Thanks for your videos on the keys 61, I have found them very helpful, I got mine today, I think only when you get your hands on it, you realise just how incredibly deep it really goes, I bought it because of the MPC heritage and wanting to learn about that, but also wanting to learn about synths, which this has a few, I like ambient music, I think its going to take me some time to get the very best from this using the arp, LFO settings and FXs, I have been on a huge learning curve with all of this, I had two previous synths, the Roland JDXi and the Korg ModWave, both had to be returned because they broke, so I ended up going for the Key 61 after seeing it, the JDXi had really lush Jupiter strings, this was important to me to find a simler patch on the Key 61, the Korg ModWave, as clever and intricate as it is, always sounded really weak with its sounds, its like they had no depth, after my first day with the key 61 I think I am going to be happy, there is so much depth to dive into and learn about, I also like there Beats interface, and after trying FL Studio and quite a few others that have left me completely baffled, I am going all in with Akai and the MPC universe with my new musical learning experience, thanks again, quite a few of your videos have been a big help, and have filled big gaps because of the depth, left by the AKAI official videos, kindest regards.

Another great addition to your series on this superb instrument. Keep em coming! Your presentational style is so good. I am 5 gigs in to using mine live, and haven’t looked back! (like you I double up in performance with a Nord Stage, so the occasional loading time delay is not really noticeable .. and it may be my imagination, but I think it may have been improved with the most recent firmware update??)

I kind of feel that they have rehashed a lot of their older plugins into this one plugin. It sounds decent. The only reason I don't use the older Air plugins is that the ui is not resizable and is tiny on modern screens. Air Music Tech customer service is garbage and they barely reply. I asked three times if they'd update their older plugins but they never answered.

Question, if you could buy this MPC Key 61 again based on your experience with it would you buy it again? Or would you wait till a new model appears that may be perhaps a 76 key version with a larger tilting screen and more RAM etc? Im debating on buying one as i currently use a Roland Fantom G7 and Integra 7 with a Roland SP404MKII Sampler to make beats. The only two things i dont like about the SP404MKII Sampler is 1. The pads are very glirchy on my model, sometimes they work right and other times they dont seem to want to recognize that i pressed the pads and 2. Everytime i resample in the pad 2,3,4 etc the volume sounds lower and lower as i go down each pad And really ruins my music making. I also like that this MPC key 61 has a timer on the display and the fact it has keys, as a keyboard player this is an Awesome piece of gear.

Love the sounds! I love your playing! Do you play in a church? I have the Akai MPC Studio mk2 and I can buy the Fabric XL plugin VST and just use another keyboard I have to play the keys, but saving up to buy the Akai MPC keys 61 is really tempting! 😊

I’ve been very curious if Fabric and Fabric XL will have some shared patches with Xpand2. That acoustic guitar sounds identical to Xpand. It would be interesting if someone did a side by side comparison between the two applications. Possibly even compare with AIR Structure 2 as well.

I dropped the cash on the vst version of this. It's actually a very musical plugin. On the plugin the preset browser is pretty poor and it also lack woodwind instruments but by and large a great sounding plugin. It's not the most authentic sounding plugin but very usable.

Can you actually edit the sample itself? For example if I had a Celeste sample on one layer, am I able to enable a loop for that specific layer or am I stuck with the Celeste sample being a one shot?
@philippebackprotips10 ай бұрын
I do not think you can but you can have one track send midi to another where you could have some other program with alternative characteristics. This takes layering to a pretty advanced degree on the MPC.

It seems that the patches take a little while to load so you may have to wait a moment until the sound is actually available to play... is it true? Can it be an issue for live performance?...
@DSoundman2 жыл бұрын
That is true about not being able to play till the sound is loaded and they do take a few seconds to load, but you can setup 8 tracks each with a different sound and they will all be loaded up at once so you can switch between the tracks instantly using the Key Ranges screen. I haven't found an issue with it live yet.

What for? You need only to import the sample (just 1 sample, no multisamples here) from the EMU Emulator II which is easily available from the web, chop a little from the start and play it chromatically.

Hmm. Those presets are a real turnoff. They are too heavy with effects and take up the whole stereo field. So that means spending your time taking all that junk off so you can build an arrangement. Or you just have the one solo preset and nothing else... I get why Akai and everyone else does that with presets, but it's not very useful.
