When you have more money than you know what to do with and want a handrail that will last ten times as long as the structure it's built on. I'd say this certainly qualifies as overkill, great job though.

How impressive. You’re so clever. In Australia all swimming pools have to have a 1,200mm high unclimbable fence and we chose glass panels for a short section for an uninterrupted view but our 1,200mm x 1,200mm glass panels have no vertical rail to hold them up, they’re all supported by two spigots dynabolted into a concrete footing. A set up like this for the house owners would have saved you a lot of work.

You do really beautiful work and your videos are top notch. Offering a thought- when you had to cosmetically fill the flat plate to the channel, instead of running dual shield, have you considered SilBr? You won’t impart as much heat, it’s softer so blending is a breeze, and obviously it won’t rust (yeah I know, the railing will be painted). MIG with SilBr allows you to fly through the work from start to finish. Yes, it requires 100% argon, and yes the wire might be a tad pricier, but time saved is worth more.
@westweld
@westweld 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks!...These welds are also structural , silicon bronze would not have worked for this, for ornimental its great. But if the inspector saw anything other than dual shield or 7018 it wouldn't pass inspection.
