I have used a Hobart welder (220v) for the last 20 years for gas-less flux core mig. I grew up using a gas Kohler powered Linclon stick welder for equipment repairs and metal fab. The Yes Welder Mig 205 DS would be a fantastic way to get back into stick and add Tig to my arsenal. Thank you for the chance to win this mighty mite. Great practical review of the YES Welder, but what really impressed me were the architectural-quality hinges you made for the A/C House. One thing you probably want to add to the A/C House is a couple of louvers: not only do you need a way for air to get into the compressor, but you will also need a way for cool air to get in and hot air to get out of the house. Free standing in the shop this isn't a problem, but in a small enclosure you may run into problems.

@MrSnowlver2 жыл бұрын
Small spools will fit just fine on that welder. It's just like on my miller. Unscrew the screw, take of the plastic part with the drive dog and set aside (I put mine in the welder so I don't lose it). Put the small spool on and put the nut/spring etc. back on, this tensions the little spool just like it does the drive dog. I always keep small spools on hand for wire I don't use much and for backup for my usual wire sizes so I don't have to run out.

Looks like a pretty decent welder, It's odd that it has such an odd spool holder arangement. I'd be interested to see how it did with stick and tig tho, mainly tig since you said it would do that, lol. The air compressor enclosure really turned out nice and that should defenitely keep it out of the weather. I was thinking of doing something similar with the compessed air in my shop, but use just rubber hose to run between manifold blocks. Keep up the good work man.
