Jon, always wanted to ask...are you self taught or did you take welding courses for TIG? Dont have any TIG experience, most of my time is on Fluxcore and MIG....just curious. Hoping to make the jump to TIG at some point when I can get a decent entry level unit.

Did you weld the inside of the elbow because of hot spots or to avoid cracks and help with durability ? I’m only asking because I haven’t welded since middle school but I’m wondering for future thought processes.

You shouldve raised that turbos position higher, that bend from turbo to intercooler is so short and acute

Hey guys quick question why torch the metals before you weld??? Is it so that both metals are same temp so they bond together properly.? I am looking to go to school for welding love the things that can be done with a welder . Keep up the good videos love the wankle engine rotary for life

It was 20° while welding so j was helping heat up the metals plus remove any moisture

the only critique I have on your welding of aluminium now is you keep pivoting at the wrist- which isn't a giant issue since your tungsten balls up.. but still I'd try to roll the wrist and keep a straighter arc (more perpendicular to the piece at all times)

Couldn't You get yourself a turbo charger with the input spiral turning the other way. So You wouldn't have such a complicated tube to the intercooler.

@@MikeGedge fair enough. I'm also in NZ & a mate of mine has had an HB Cosmo for a couple decades now, they're rare as hen's teeth. Rotary swap the Skyline, I reckon it'd be cool.
