Quilters respond quickly in times of crisis. Fabric Cafe was instrumental in providing several patterns so that quilters could become responders in a time of need after the May, 2022, Robb School tragedy in Uvalde, Texas. The Quilts of Grace Shop in Uvalde reached out. The shop asked for quilts to help the Uvalde community heal. Two quilters in Claude, Tx, quickly made 4 quilts with Three Yard Patterns for the children. These quilts were distributed as a measure of comfort. Thank you, Fabric Cafe for your part in this time of need. May the quilts provide a blessing to the community in this difficult time.

Donna and all at Fabric Cafe, what a beautiful thing to do girls, all of you. To bring a smile and a cuddle in the shape of a beautiful quilt to children that could do with that cuddle. I have just about finished my 2nd quilt, but my first i made for my autistic grandson who is non verbal, and i made it so that when he gets upset or is fustrated at not being understood, he can cuddle into his double bed sized Toy Story quilt. You are giving all these children that hug and understanding with every quilt that is used. Crafty hugs from Norah, Glenochil, Scotland

Another coordinator here! Thank you so much for raising awareness about Project Linus and providing simple, easy-to-follow instructions to make beautiful quilts. My very first quilt was from one of Donna's 3 Yard Quilt books, and I've donated several to Project Linus over the years. I love how the quilts you make aren't just for infants. Since we donate blankets to kids up to 18 years old, it's great to see patterns for quilts suitable for teenagers.

I feel slightly overwhelmed and was thinking of reaching out to PL. A neighborhood boy and his 3 younger siblings moved away but then a month later he moved in with his dad and his siblings who have a different dad moved in with him. So the younger ones are not even living with their mom or dad. I don’t know all of the situation but offered to send them quilts. Asked permission from his step mom and she had one child so now I get to make 5 quilts. I don’t mind buying the fabric but wondered if anyone local to southeast WA would like to help as I am a very beginner

As a Project Linus Coordinator for my county, I can't thank you enough for easy kids patterns. We get some amazing quilts from talented volunteers and I often recognize your patterns. When someone starting out wants a simple pattern to sew, I recommend they start with a fabric café pattern. Kids just LOVE getting these lap quilts!

I came across your you tube videos at the beginning of October. I used your cancer awareness free pattern this week to make a quilt to donate to a child battling brain cancer.. The ribbon color for the particular cancer is purple and yellow. I wish I could attach a picture to show you. Thank you so much for that quick pattern you came up with. Im hooked on your patterns.I’m currently making others using the 5 new fabric cafe quilt books I just bought. I bought 2 when I discovered you and ordered 3 more books last week. I can’t help myself. Maybe Santa will bring me your new book that came out.

Our Naples (Florida) Quilters' Guild makes and donates Comfy Quilts to our local Child Advocacy Center. We just found out the Center suffered extensive damage during Hurricane Ian. Not only did they lose their office, many of the quilts they had waiting to be gifted to children in need were destroyed or damaged as well. So our Guild certainly has our work cut out for us over the next weeks and months. Thank you for the encouragement and inspiration.

I am a slow sewist, and I have 12 quilts to make for kids who are permanent residents at a mission here in Mexico. They live in a place with no insulation and no heat (as do I), so when it is 47 ° outside it is 47 degrees in the house. These kids arrived with pretty much nothing. Some local charities gave out blankets, but in winter, one isn't enough. They come from rough backgrounds. I'd like to make them something colorful that is especially for them, but I have to do it fast. I appreciate seeing these ideas. I'm something of a beginner, but I think I can tackle these with my stash. By the way, there is no cotton to be had here in Mexican fabric stores. Everything is polyester.

Thank you, most sincerely, for sharing with your viewers how Fabric Cafe--as a company and as individuals--are using your talents and dedicating your time and resources to make the children in our world feel cherished: literally. warmer on the inside and the outside. This episode has truly demonstrated how each corporation can make a difference by showing leadership in the area of community service and how we each can become happier, stronger people one act of kindness at a time. I have found that whenever I try to help others I ended feeling like I am the one who was helped the most. Thank you for providing guidance in how we can personalize our quilts to better communicate the love, encouragement, and hope being sent.

Can you please tell me what the finished quilt measurements are for the dinosaur quilt, my grandson loves dinosaurs…..also the fabric that comes for the quilt, does it cover the back too or wouldI have to purchase extra fabric for the back. I am sorry to be such a « nut » but I am very new at this, I have sewed before but never quilted….I think I could make an easy one and maybe try to quilt as you go? Would that be possible for this quilt? Thank you very much for the information. Here’s hoping I can do this!
@FabricCafe2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mickey! The dinosaur quilt measures approx. 50" x 50", they may very slightly depending on seams. The fabric included in the quilt kit will make a finished quilt top, including borders & binding. Extra fabric for backing will need to be purchased, or used from your stash. We have additional fabric available for backing that we pick just for you if you would like, just select the "add a coordinating backing" option and we'll take care of it. Our patterns are not written in the "quilt as you go" method, but if you are comfortable with that process you can definitely give it a try!
