I’m a little bit surprised that you didn’t put Ralph Lauren into classic British. I’ve always felt the classic British vibe when you look at the blazers or knit sweaters you can wear with a blouse. For me LR was always one of the best sources to create the classic British style. But I understand your point. It also goes very well with the more business-preppy-New-York-look
@FabSakker3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I do get what you mean! Especially the vintage Ralph Lauren adverts have a very British feel. I think a great thing about this style of fashion is that there are many different sub-styles, but at the end of the day it all looks very classic. A RL blazer for example would look great for a NY preppy look or styled in the more classic British style! 😄

Preppy style, which made its presence in the mass media in films like John Hughes had EVERYONE all over the world wearing plaid, navy blazers with brass buttons, boat shoes, Madras and MONOGRAMS! Who didn't have at least one piece that was considered "prep"? To this day, that is my "go to" look. Thanks for making this video.🙂
@FabSakker2 жыл бұрын
Love John Hughes (Planes, Trains & Automobiles is one of my all time favourites!) I have an "80s preppy" video in the works, so will definitely include the items you mentioned 😄

This is so different from central europe but of course some are well known here as well like Ralph Lauren, Brooks Brothers and Ted Baker. And you are right people often complain too much about nothing. Of course instagram is often hyper aesthetic and not realistic especially when it is about branding.
@FabSakker4 жыл бұрын
Yes I agree! Kiel and Sarah are obviously very talented and creative people who put a lot of hard work into their Instagram and branding - it is essentially a kind of art form at this point. And although I know people love to see transparency and “real life” on social media, it is okay to want to see pretty and aesthetic things too!
@kimberlyperrotis89622 жыл бұрын
The quality of Brooks Brothers has declined drastically in the last few years. The have also cut their selection of classic items, like blazers, down to almost nothing. There’s not much left of interest for me there, but pre-owned pieces made up until about 2000 are nice. The turn of the millennium was when polyester and acrylic began to dominate even better-quality brands like this. I so miss the quality of clothing from my young adulthood, the 80s-90s. Wool clothing and outerwear was standard, as were breathable linings.

The Lauren James bow on those dresses are absolutely iconic. Wear or find someone else to date, LOL. Too bad they went out of business. You went over the most popular ones everyone knows about. These brands are amazing, don't get me wrong, but there are brands like J McLaughlin, Cordings of Piccadilly, and Le Tricoteur that are hard-core prep/old school that many have never heard of.

Great video! I recently found your channel and have been going through your older content. I wanted to like Draper James and my first purchase was pajamas. It was my fault for not thoroughly reading the description but was extremely disappointed to receive them and discover they were 100% polyester! You can’t wear polyester in the South - you will die from the heat! $68 for polyester pajamas made me feel like the Reese’s venture was a cash grab. If you want poly PJs go to Walmart and spend $10. So disappointing!
@FabSakker3 жыл бұрын
Oh no!! I despise polyester pjs too, the fabric feels so awful and sticky 😖 I must admit that I haven't shopped at Draper James much over the pandemic, so I hope that the quality isn't declining... that would be a great shame as the designs are so cute! x

Kiel James Patrick first stated that they are made only in the USA because they like classic American Culture but then when you get their products, it is actually made in China. Maybe they were made in the USA but when they moved to make their items in China, their prices should have dropped. Products made in China are always low quality. So In a way I think the criticism is justified. I have a few of their products and I am happy with them but they are overpriced for the quality. Second, they have poor reviews from their own employees how they are treated. Also, they really don't really wear their products they promote according to citizens in their local community so they are just fake, which again most people don't like. Most people dont like being lied too.
