Patina must have been tired cause those vocals were quite questionable this performance.

the thing is she couldn't sound like a Broadway performer playing Deloris. She needed a pop sound. The thing is that most pop singers have bad technique and they sing from the throat, but she has had vocal lessons so she knew that. The only other place that she could sing without sounding overly Broadway was to sing mainly in her nose and have the southern accent. She still struggled but it was better than placing her voice in her throat. I hope that makes sense.

Yeah, so questionable she was nominated for a Tony, A Drama Desk, A Drama League and an Olivier Award for her performance. She was VERY questionable.

Meanwhile at the ranch I said THIS PERFORMANCE....and I have heard her sound good but I still rest with what I thought. I know what tired vocals sound like no biggie, move forward. Being a singer I am very aware of placement. I wasn't talking about her nasal placement, again her vocals just sound little questionable in this video, aside from the nasal her timbre and high notes were just off. So again it must have been the end of a an 8 show week.

atlsuperstar I agree. She is an INCREDIBLE performer and vocalist!!! This performance was just weak. You can acknowledge a weak performance and not be a "hater" lol. It's called criticism, and you weren't nasty whatsoever. She almost cracked a few times, I was like, yikes...I doubt it's because she has a lack of control or talent! Simply because she was tired or non hydrated, like you say.

Was this just not a good performance or can Ms. Miller not hit that last note. Every recording I hear it's always flat. On a lighter note, I love Patina's version. When I see her I see Whoopi Goldberg as Deloris. I also love Raven though. She makes Deloris younger and spunkier which makes it seem like she wants fame more than Patina's Deloris.
