Love those NA motors, especially big blocks. I grew up in the muscle car era, so I have a fond attachment for them.

Old video or not It was really cool to see a NRE N/A big block with a manual trans and in a Big Girl like this one. I'm not hating on the turbo cars I just have never owned one so this is right up my alley. How could you not be Happy with this big ole girl a 572 CI and a 6 speed manual and a 2 legged rear. Nothing but bad ass in honest opinion. It's not hard to see that I like cars like this. Thank you for showing this!

That is one extraordinary piece of art . To me it is perfect and needs nothing but a climate controlled garage and some good ol TLC . The owner must be a very proud individual

my first was a $75, 66 (in 83) 4 door Impala,cracked frame,gray primer,bald tires,almost no brakes,float stuck in the carb all of the time,tap it a little and go carefully. makes me well up a little seein one like this holy crap !

love me some horsepower.... Tom Nelson builds some of the best engines in the country. and usually the people that go to him can afford this and the gas it takes.
@Dr_Xyzt11 жыл бұрын
I'm wondering the same thing. It could be a Richmond 6-speed with hand picked ratios, but more likely, it could just be a tremec T-56 with the 2.97 first gear, and a 4.10 diff.

@justtony213 жыл бұрын
um not sure if you are really in tune with the donk scene but a donk is a impala or caprice that was assembled from 1971-1976. this being a 1966 does not qualify in the least.
not to metion the example he gives was with a 59 impala, the last year for the x-frame and the car was a total rustbucket (you see the rust fly off the car when it hits).

exactly. i was hit in my 73 AMX by a mid to late 90s fullsize chevy pick-up 11 years ago at a gas station. he nailed me in the right rear 1/4 panel. i had a dented 1/4 and a cracked spoiler. his bumper was bent, right fender was crunched and his passenger door wouldn't open. a few minutes with a hammer and dolly and a little touch up with some paint and the car was fine.
@juliennacer88713 жыл бұрын
Really? But the truck is so much heavier. I call bs.
@CamaroAmx3 жыл бұрын
@@juliennacer8871 the side of his truck scraped along the right rear corner of my car as he attempted to avoid the impact. Barely left a scratch in my bumper that buffed right out.

"Crumple...crush up"...Interesting distinction. Crumple zones are designed to absorb the impact, instead of the force being absorbed by occupants.But there is a limit. You never said what speed the Impala and Prius would be going in a head on crash. I can bet that the Prius driver would end up wearing the Impala's engine. Mass does play a part in it too. The Impala is twice the weight I would guess.
@applemusclecar13017 жыл бұрын

That Audi commercial on this video was awesome, but honestly, if my dad handed me the keys to an Impala with 700hp, I would forget about prom and go flog the shit out of the car.
@BeulahLips13 жыл бұрын
Mistake: This can't possibly be 5000lbs unless you added 1000 lbs of weight to it, at least. The old 60's two door Impalas were all under 4000lbs. Shoot, even a mid 90's Caprice/SS Impala four door is just over 4000lbs... How are you coming up with 5k?
@prostreet5513 жыл бұрын
hell most old cars i like they have REAL metal in them first off, plus you get hit you live, not end up in trunk with your head buried in your ass. wondering what happened, in any old car, for the most you will live. and alot of guys , like myself run a roll cage. for obvious reasons, but i can drive to track and everyday , plus don't need a computer to adjust idle.

the 59 impala had an x-frame (last year for it). its a lousy frame design in chassis stiffness and safety. the perimeter frames of later cars were far stronger and held up alot better. plus the 59 Impala they used was a repainted rustbucket (you can see the rust fly off it when it hits).

the impala would lose to a prius in a head on collision due to all modern vechicles are now designd with crumple zones so the vechicle can handle a crash where the older vechicles just crush up , if you disagree look up chevrolet 50th anaversery crash test and u will see first hand that if you were in a new vechicle u got a better chance of walking away from a crash

I love those old Chevys. This '66 Chevy Impala looks good, except for those damn DUBs (rims that are 20" and bigger). Get rid of those rims. It should've had an automatic trans. That 572 ci. is probably burning the clutch by now. Other than that, it's a damn good old school car.

dude if you are looking at a car like this and worried that its not economical, you probably own a Prius and you are missing the whole point. Muscle cars are not built for worrying about your fuel mileage, your lack of appreciation for this car shows a blatant misunderstanding and makes one wonder why you clicked on it in the first place. You will find your dream car in Consumer Reports.
