Then in the 90s the build the Pioneer A400. Lol!! An all the magazines gave it excellent reviews...But look at this piece of beauty monster....Everytime an audiphile talks good about new audio components must take one of this machines and carry it to test the new plastic ones that they wanted to buy and do the test side by side... Everyone knows who will be the winner....without a doubt!!!!

Picked up one of these for $25 had to replace a few caps and clean it up and now it plays like a boss! You talking about raw power there will never be any amp built like this ever again. This thing is a boat anchor and as solid as a tank. I'll never sell it.

In a year time no reaction to my SOS message. Those SA-9500II are so good and I both a second one . They playing both FANTASTIC on all speakers I have they give a good warm and correct sound. Thhey where maded like tanks . About the time the japanese came with audio on the market in europe they where made and sold here . There was a gigantic competition between european and japanese Amps . And because of the big competitions japanese ( Akai, pioneer, technics, sony, kenwood) they builded them extreme good; AND they where cheaper than all the rest of the audio wich where sold that time . My 2 SA-9500II and AM 2950 are still in perfect condition and still play them every day.... So if you find one dont hesitate !!!!

For some reason even though we are in a vinyl resurgence, manufacturers of new integrated amps feel sub filters are not necessary. Cone pump will be very disappointing to the novice:) That’s a beautiful amp.

For me this is better then the high end amplifiers they make now. Butt behind it says 200 watts And he gives 2x80 watt rms ?? For my ears this is the best amplifier pioneer ever maded
@gattigail2 жыл бұрын
The 200 watts written on the back is not the wattage of the audio output. The 200 watts printed on the back is the maximum current it draws from your power outlet.

One helluva component. I think it actually puts out 100wpc in 4 ohms. and 80 in 8 ohms. All at a THD/IM of 0.05%. Those Pioneer toggle switches are soooo authoritative in feel and function when flipped. The volume control is "stepped" for positive resetting of levels. Lots of goodies in both phono settings, however the filters have too gradual a slope. Still functional though. Phono S/N could be better than 75dB but that's minor carping. Bidirectional dubbing as well as pre out/ main in make this a great pre-amp alone. I had a girlfriend in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn in 1980 that had this unit driving AR-92 speakers and WOW did it sound great. Always sweet to see vintage "classic" components still in use. Nice video.

I've got a beautiful, visually pristine SA-9500 II that was my father's. I still have the orginal manual and circuit diagram that it came with. However, I have issues with intermittent, fuzzy sound out of the left channel when I turn the volume knob. I'd appreciate it if anyone had thoughts on what could be the underlying cause. Could it just be oxidation? I want to take it to a shop one day, but I'm hesitant until I find a place that's highly recommended. It may not be the rarest or most expensive bird, but it's special to me. Also, these are just plain sexy to look at.
@gattigail5 жыл бұрын
Yes...it is a beautiful amp. Maybe the volume is just a little dirty. Try to clean it with a little Deoxit.

I acquired mine and it was not taken care of. I still have a lot to fix but I did get a pretty much great condition TX9500MKii matching tuner with it. I traded some 2000s crappy KLHs for them both and I'd do it again if I could. Even with its issues it was worth to get both the Int. amp and Tuner. I wish I could run it with using another preamp. The jumper RCAs were hacked by some jerk and now it is only used as my poweramp. one day it'll be running under its weight with the preamp and all. nice face plate on yours too btw
@gattigail7 жыл бұрын
Thanks!! I used to have matching tuners for all my vintage integrated amps....but since I don't use the tuners anymore, I got rid of them to make space for more amps. Now I've been using internet radio and the Google Chromecast Audio. I actually have a few of them. One I hooked up with a Optical cable using the DAC in my McIntosh preamp. Sounds pretty darn good!
@tapemaster82525 жыл бұрын
This is the earliest version of a monoblock integrated amp I ever seen, there's a few companies doing something similar like Cambridge Audio 851a, transformer for preamp and one for amp, yours looks as though it's an amp for L&R

, make sure that you plug this amp into an a/c line condition/protection piece of equipment like I do. I bought one of these at the flea market ten years ago for $20. It looked brand new and performed perfectly. I set it up as my bedroom stereo as it could not compete with my Sansui 9090 I was using in my living room at the time. Anyway, two years ago I sell the Pioneer on EBAY for $700,not a bad return on my $20. I have a room full of old stereo gear I have collected over the past 20 years. Most were bought dirt cheap at our local flea market. I never thought vintage would go crazy like it has the past few years. I wish I had bought more!!! Hi ! very nice amp. However i see at 4:51 on the back of the unit "230 Watts" ...is that the max power consumption ? if so the music power available should be around half of that ? i am quite obsessed and love big power supplies ... the first and main bottleneck in an amp is the mains transformer ... what do you think ? do you know what is the power on 4 ohm maybe ? Thanks a lot and kind regards, gino
@gattigail4 жыл бұрын
The 230 Watts is not the power output of the amp. That number is the power consumption and how many watts it may draw from your wall to run the amp....probably at full power.

I also had a Pioneer reel to reel and cassette deck too. and of course a vintage Technics turntable. oh the things we do so foolishly as young teenagers like get rid of vintage audio equipment and later in life search high and low and for a very long time. I also had the complete Akai rack stereo system with the separate amp, tuner, Equilizer, turntable, cassette deck, reel to reel, all in a audio cabnet with a glass door. damn I wish I had that stuff now. I caint even begin to list all the vintage speakers I've owned. damn

We used to compete and compare our systems with friends....hang out with friends and listen to records, make tapes, compare speakers, receivers, turntables, save up and get something new...go the the stereo stores with your buddies......ahhhh….those were good times !!
