If you're referring to pre recruit training course, its not pass or fail mate and will most likely be two days if you've got all the relevant certificates (GCSE/Functional skills). You do a fitness test on the Wednesday, level 9.10 on the bleep test, easy if you train for it, 20 pressups in a minute and 35 situps in a minute, again both easy if you prepare for it. My advice would be to turn up dressed smart, don't fidget when you're stood outside and only speak to corporals when they speak to you or when you have a question. If you've got your certificates you'll go home around 3PM Thursday

@@rockywr I totally agree with you there are strong women that can take more then some men. But in my experience around 80% of men can do it fine while maybe 10% of women can make it. Keep in mind this is not basic training but the Jäger. I believe maybe 30-40% of women can make it. But the question is also how mentally strong you are.

All these old timers saying “snowflakes” or “if that was in my day I would’ve been told to fuck off and got punched”. Times unfortunately change and the generation we are currently in mental health being a large killer of both males and females. Basic training is still hard nobody can deny that, me being through it myself and not really bothered about the words or physical punishment used against me can still safely say that it is hard. Regardless of whether or not it’s gone soft as some may say, having the ambition and motivation to get through basic and out your comfort zone is as hard as it can get for some people. Think rather than comparing it to how it used to be, be proud that people are joining up?

Did my basic training at Pirbright when it was the guards depot and it was hell on earth that was 1986 . I know times have changed but can't believe how soft the training regime has become . All the instructors and even kitchen staff were horrible to you, you never got a second spare to do anything and if you weren't marching you were running or cleaning kit, but like I say society has changed but I don't know if it is for the better . When you went to scoff you had to march with your kfs behind your back along Adair walk and nco,s were spaced all the way down and used to rift you if you werent sharp enough. The timings were tight and sometimes you no sooner got your scoff than your platoon staff would come screaming at you outside outside before you had time to eat it, result not enough calories and weakness on the runs usually resulting in lads jacking in . I lost a stone in the first week and I was only skinny to start with . Out of my intake only 25 per cent passed out . I always thought the training was too harsh and got rid of some lads who would have made good soldiers , it all depended on your ability to handle the bullshit .

I looked at joining or even joining the reserves and the hard parts haven't put me off but the little petty things such as shaving everyday and getting a my hair cut very short on top. It may seem silly to you because you are used to it and joined a while ago but they really put me off, especially the shaving. Regarding shaving, yes we have to do it unless your following a certain religion that forbids cutting hair. To all who running off their mouths how soft that is and no swear words and bla bla bla.... don’t jump to conclusions as you just judging by one video and which is just a shrapnel of the entire training, so just save your negativity and false conclusions to yourselves; also this particular video just showing the INDUCTION TO THE GYM, not the entire basic training and not week 14! Fair enough it became different if compared to the 50s, 60s 70s etc but so would the recruits from the 50s judge the training of the 90s that the 90s recruits seem to describe as have been hard and tough and brutal and bla bla bla! Furthermore there are plenty of videos on this channel showing the decent output standards of enlisted soldiers. So please don’t make yourselves look stupid as again you judging the entire training and output standards by one induction to the gym video! Lloyd Kelso They May seem that way to you, but at the end of the day the British Army is the best in the World and does its talking on the Battlefield. I’m Ex British Infantry when Training was a lot lot harder than this, I’ve done exercises with the US Army and they couldn’t even keep up with my Regiment or soldier anywhere near as good as us. When it comes to the crunch, the British Army from whatever era fights above it’s weight, always has and always will, on the Battlefield is where it counts.

jazz322alllwaysswing Ah you’re Queens Div, Poacher or Viking/Pompadour? Yes 1 Mercian now, all these cutbacks have destroyed our once great Regiments, but we and the New Regiments would still perform better in all aspects than the Americans.

You are the best in Great Britain. We are the best in the United States. When we train together we will always say that we are better and you will say that you are always better, we are allies. I was in the Air Defense Artillery and I was a stinger team Chief and I was damn good at it. I've even seen videos of United States military basic training today and it is so much easier than when I went in in 1978. I was a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division from 89-92. I loved every single day of it. I retired from the reserves as a SSG. I hope you have a better day tomorrow. AATW!!!!!
