This really helps!! I would like to be in the RAF band when I am older! When I was little I used to say to my dad (who was in the army) that I wanted to be in the military when the time comes and now 8 years later (I'm 14) I have made my decision to be in the RAF!!! I'm going to use this information to make myself stronger! :) Edit: 16 almost 17 now. I have not joined the RAF, but I am joining the British Army! I have my assessment centre in 9 days. Hopefully I get in as a musician, although I haven't heard about an audition at all. I will update after I go through the assessment centre. Update: I'm starting British Army Basic Training in September at the Army Foundation College in Harrogate. I'll be training there for 5 months, then I'll go to Portsmouth for my phase 2 training as a musician! Update: I started phase 2 last week, currently its been the best fuckin fun I've had in a long time. Phase 1 was shite, but the bonds you make with the people are incredible. I urge anyone to join the British Army! Its been amazing so far, and im less than a year in!

This is really unfair how men have a way higher fitness standard than women. Women say that they want equality well explain this
@sosborne90605 жыл бұрын
HappierWolf GAM it depends on gender, role and age. The idea is that you have to be a minimum standard for your role, but age and gender come in to it because it is easier to reach a certain standard for a male or young person than a female or older person, they want you to push yourselves

It’s really not that hard....
@finnmartin2815 жыл бұрын
@@sosborne9060But let's face it, the RAF hardly has high expectations for fitness, and if 2 people are going for the same job, they will need to do the same things, meaning if a woman cannot perform equally to a man, she does not deserve the job opportunity when a man with a better score may have failed. They are happy to take the same pay but don't want to do the same work.
@MuscleWorld5 жыл бұрын
@@finnmartin281 agree 100% fitness standards should be the same across the board. It's 2019 the RAF need to catch up with equality. I hope women joining the military will demand to do the same test as their male counterparts as 10 half reps is not a test, and insulting to a proud strong woman I'm sure. I have trained women to go from 0 to 10 full press ups in a couple of weeks following a simple progressive approach. I've never heard anyone say that women are stronger than men. The difference in physical standards is fair considering men have way more testosterone than women.
@RJW985 жыл бұрын
@@georgeplummer4553 This is an irrelevant argument as the scenario you're giving is for combat roles (I.E infantry, gunners), which many militaries don't allow women into. The ones that do (I know the British Army is letting women into combat roles now) make sure that women are able to get up to men's standards. So I still don't see a problem with women not meeting men's standards in other roles, such as Engineering or the Medical side of things.

@@georgeplummer4553 I never said I disagreed, you just assumed I did. For combat roles, yes, women should meet the same standards, which some are. @@RJW98 But the tests are still there for a reason. Is it really fair that a man who scores better than a female still fails when she passes purely because he has a penis? If a man is better qualified and suitable then they should be prioritised over ticking some diversity-equality boxes.

@@finnmartin281 And the difference in fitness standards is there for a reason. And yes it's fair, because that penis gives him the testosterone, and therefore strength, needed to pass physical tests at a higher fitness rate. If a woman wants to pass at a man's level, she'd have to work twice as hard as her male counterpart, so how is that fair? As a female, I completely agree that women should be allowed to join all roles of all services IF they can meet the same fitness requirements as men. I don't understand the logic of making it easier in the name of "equality" an I'm sure plenty of women would be able to match the men in their test.
@packersfanforlife7903 Жыл бұрын
Most struggle to meet the men's pass requirement, a pass for female is 7.2 for the youngest age group and only goes down from there. A pass for the men is minimum 9.10 and that goes down over time. However there are some women who can and are fitter than some of the men just not most of them. However that is mainly down to biological reasons. Really fit women can be better than most guys in the Military however.

It means you have to run to level 7.2 on the bleep test to get a basic pass. So it starts at level 1 and goes up each minute with the beats progressively getting fast within that minute. 7.2 is about just under 8 minutes running. You'll have to also perform the push ups and sit ups. If you fail one area, you still have to do all the other areas. @toxichazard50154 жыл бұрын
That is what standards are for, until you meet them you can't join. The fitness test is the last stage of joining, followed by this, the PRTC and another fitness test at your BRTC. Before this is AST, interview, medical review. This will take months, make sure you're training during this time. This test doesn't prove you're superhuman, it shows that you have a pulse. However, if you were to fail the fitness test, ussualy you would get another chance to pass it.
