I had a manual '96 NJ GLS, then an auto '99 NL Exceed (both V6 petrols - 3.0L & 3.5L respectively), and I've always regretted selling the NL. I love the Mitsubishi's Super Select 4WD System. Two years ago I decided to get back into 4WDriving and started looking for another NL. That stopped when I got a (free) hand-me-down 80 Series GXL Landcruiser from my eldest sister instead. The Cruiser is a great rig and I love it, but I will always have a soft spot for Pajeros.

That is one of the nicest NL's around, great upgrades done. I have to Korean made version - Hyundai Terracan. Its a really good starting point as stock, with 2.9L CRDi and similar Aisin 3speed+o/d transmission, LSD. I am just looking at some suspension mods, then look to engine along the way. Just finding aftermarket parts now for Gen2 stuff harder to find.

Great looking Pajero. What’s been done to the motor to get 850Nm?
@samsonacc80818 ай бұрын
He said he put the stock ecu back on and tuned it on the dyno and it made 850nm 😂. Double tq over stock if engine is post 2010. Intercooler with "custom piping" and prob exhaust. 850 is load of bull.

Yup such an under rated 4x4! I've got one, just the 2.8. Factory rear diff lock Factory centre difflock and front Lokka. Manual hubs are a must. Goes everywhere the big trucks go. No way near this tidy though!

I have a 98 straight fender Montero (american name) and I have the 4M40 N/A engine... its super reliable and I get 900km per tank, buuuuuut the power is not enough. It gives around 70-80hp, I would like something newer like a 4M41 or maybe a turbo kit, there is a really nice one for about 2k minus intercooler.. I love the car tho, in 4L it is unstoppable. Next investment: winch

@@gonzalo4to Hello dear. Actually I beleive you because I test drove a Mitsubishi with the 4M40 N/A but it was the pick-up L200 not the Pajero/Montero and it was less responsive than my previous 2nd gen LWB Pajero 2.5TD!! In fact, the 2.5TD generates 74KW and the 4M40 N/A 71KW so these two engines are too close but the felt performance difference (mainly acceleration) is because of the higher torque level on the 4D56 2.5TD. The top speed is pretty the same, arround150 Km/h on the speedo ;)
@gonzalo4to3 жыл бұрын
@@gaaloulmed4753 I am happy with my N/A truck, and I don't really desire a turbo. It burns almost no fuel, I am getting 900km per tank (75 liters). No issues there!

True, I forgot about the video (after watching just the start bit) and watched it now. But still something I have thought about, if someone has done it before.. and the answer is yes, kinda. The 2.8 is not a bad engine and one that I'm still learning from by working on them, but they are pretty slow. And I'm used to NA old-school diesel power. This example looks very neat and cool, rarely do we see such modified ones at our workshop. It's usually the old mate configuration.
