I started watching this, having a bit of a laugh. But by the end, these lads have impressed me, they have learned what they needed to know and they are out there having the same experience as people whom spend $120K on Landcruiser Sahara for $8000. And learnt a ship load during the process. Good on them!

Bennet Janz hahaha alter Verwalter, you guys did an awesome job, I've just come back from the Mojave desert(death valley), with a budget build Ford Explorer 4x4 (bed mod only) $1500 and have been inspired to conquer anything between me and the beauty of the natural world, I am a Carpenter and was considering Australia seriously, but I think it's a done deal, I'll be hopefully heading to Australia this year, buying a rig and emulating you! Top notch! Thanks for the post Ronny, can't stop poaching ideas from this channel, so many cool builds, you Germans keep up the stellar work, and Ronny same to you and keep the quality coming!

Awesome Ronny, thanks for the first budget build, these guys nailed it! I was a bit surprised that rust wasn't one of the things to look out for. No 4WD does not have a potential rust problem but over here (I'm Swiss) the Pajeros have a tendency to be the worst. When we went to Western Africa our mates' Pajero suffered a broken frame three times because it was rusted from the inside to an extent that wasn't visible from the outside...
@katrin36938 жыл бұрын
hey, my Pajero (in the Video) surprisingly has no rust at all even after taking it through lots of salt lakes and water. I've never seen a gen 2 Pajero (worked on lots of backpacker pajeros) with major rust, especially not on the frame. they seem to rust proof them really well over here! schöne grüße in die Schweiz ;)

Great rig! Function over form. Roll it over and still have fun and a lot of budget to get another one for cheap. Roll an expensive 4x4 and your done, most insurer wont sound nice when you need them. Long term offroading is about bashing a car while having fun anyway. Its about how skilled you are in bush fixing it, expensive cars arent always bulletproof in the bush.

these are some good ideas, me and my stepdad are slowly rebuilding my 95 blazer i crashed about a month ago. (its my first car afterall and the damage was not as bad as it looked) I got super lucky finding it because everyone drives them until they die, i was able to find a non running 96 that had everything i needed and then some, but i can attest to the blazer's glory. they want to just keep going and if the A-frames on the parts truck werent so roached, it looks like the parts truck could run again. (its inspection expired in august of 2015) It sounds kinda fun overlanding in different countries, and there are a couple countries i would not mind visiting.
