I just think its amazing how cool people like you take the time to teach people things like this. You saved me a lot of time of going through messy (and mostly inaccurate) tabs. Thanks a lot man, amazingly helpful video.

Man, I learned to play acoustic guitar by ear and I’ve been playing for years. This song has always been unreachable to me because all tabs I would find when this song came out were not good. You are amazing and I’m still learning it but just wanted to say thank you for your awesome way of teaching! Learning the verse now It’s so gratifying to play this song finally! Thanks again!

mplcausa oh my...I only just read your comment so sorry. If I have replied please ignore but if not...thank you very much for coming to my channel and learning this incredible music. How is the verse coming along?...that’s the tricky bit as you would know and my interpretation is a little l loose. I’d love to post another lesson for the distorted section because I now know how it should be played. Thank you very much for coming to my channel. Much appreciated and there will be more. Eezer

That is so cool that i was able to help you learn this amazing track. As you will no doubt already know it isnt perfect but it is still enjoyable and fairly close. I always wanted to make a new improved version because i have picked up a few improvements along the way. Maybe in time. Thank you so much for watching but more importantly thank you for your comments, i appreciate them very much. Eezer

I find it amazing how many approaches there are to playing this song. I think Mikeal may not even have been aware of other ways than how he composed it himself - but he would be the first to admit that he looks for easy ways to do things. In searching the guitar, without the aid of TABs, etc. for help, a person can learn so much more about the fretboard than might have with it. By studying this songs intro I have been inspired into new directions. Your version is as cool as any other. Thanks.

Hey, it's me again. I learned Benighted, by your video, a few days ago, now I got this. Thanks a lot, for yours amazing work. 100% accuracy, 100% match with original. Pure pleasure to play, when you know it fully correct. And sorry for my english, I know it is bad. Thanks!!!

This is much easier than I thought. The reason it "sounds difficult" I think is due to the awesome rhythm and feel. I actually got everything in this video down pretty quick. I just wanted to learn the acoustic bit, I can do the distorted guitar stuff later.

I can never get the second block of the first tab part right :( when i switch from the low E (0 5 0) to B (4 5) it doesn't sound right. do you pick the 4? or just hammer on it really hard. It just not working for me and I don't know if it's the sync between my two hands. I've only been playing for 4 months and any help would be great
@MaxRideout10 жыл бұрын
Hmm. It sounds close, and you make really good videos, but this isn't how Mikael Akerfeldt plays it.

tettit tott Did you actually click on that before whining? It's Mikael Akerfeldt playing part of this in person. I put it there so people could learn to play it correctly, like I am glad I did. When did links to relevant, correct information become spam?

Thanks again and wish you well. p.s.I hope you get around to posting a lesson on "To bid you farewell" one day.

That’s so awesome Kevin, thank you for posting your thoughts. Yeah they are 2 banging tracks no doubt. Great to pull out when you feel the need. To Bid You Farewell is such an amazing song, but it really needs 2 guitars to do it justice, maybe one day Kevin, here’s hoping. All the very best, Eezer

Yeah it's tricky, but you definitely play the 4 then hammer a 5 on the b string straight away. Try and get it as smooth as you can by playing superslow at first and then build up speed. 4 months is not long so you're doing well by choosing this song. Good luck man. Eezer
@eezerian12 жыл бұрын
Hi, i think it would be too difficult without fingerpicking. At the very least you would need a sort of hybrid pick and fingers combo. You're right though, the song is so beautiful, beautiful enough for you to leave the pick out?...The intro to this song is a wonderful fingerpicking exercise, I'd treat it as such, go slow to begin with and build up your skills. Good luck and thank you for watching my vids. Plenty more to come. Eezer

@rodgriz Hey man thanks for watching this and for guiding me to the masterclass. Very interesting, I wish I'd seen that before posting to be honest, he really does play it differently. The second chord I'm missing the Bb(3rd fret 3rd str - 1/2 barre). I loved watching the rest of the songs he played too...can't believe I hadn't seen it. I knew he played the Dm starting at 5th fret and going to 7th, but mine is from 1st to 5th. Thanks again Eezer
