"I don't recommend it." Yeah, I second that! Wow, the look on your face when you left the tent. I know you saying Baruch Hashem! I was saying it too. I, for one, did not want to see their reaction to finding out that you are Jewish. You did so well at maintaining a calm dialogue with them. I applaud you for reaching out to and meeting new people, new cultures and am thankful that you do so safely. Stay safe on your travels!

@@humblebee8334I don't know. Didn't the man who took him in there say that the guys there blamed all their troubles on the Jews? Or maybe they were just taught that? Either way, Schloime must have thought it was better to follow this guy's advice.

@@thecatlady6 his guide made it very clear that it was a bad idea. He wouldn’t even say “Israel” in front of them. That hatred has been bred deeply into them and him being an American is bad enough- being a Jewish American? Forget about it. That would’ve been a bad, bad day. I’m glad he followed his guide’s advice.

@@EmKnowsThings 💯 I agree! You worded it better than I could have. So many people just don't get that. Hatred of Jews, Americans and Jewish Americans is embedded into many, but not all, Muslim children from very young ages. There are Muslims who don't share this hatred. I am an Orthodox Jewish woman who dresses modestly. I cover my hair, usually with a tichel (scarf), and I've met several Muslim women with whom I've had wonderful conversations about covering our hair. We have different customs (ex. in Judaism, only married women cover their hair; in Islam, even young girls start covering at different ages depending on their sect's customs) but we have mostly the same reasons. No hatred can be seen or heard between us. Just enjoyment of a beautiful shared custom. (In my profile pic, I'm wearing a "sheitel" (wig) which is another way Jewish women cover our hair.)

@@thecatlady6 yes, I live in NYC metro so I am quite familiar. Funny story, when I first moved here from Georgia, I had NO IDEA because we had zero Hasidic people where I lived. We didn’t have any growing up in Alexandria, VA either. One day, I asked a Jewish coworker, “how is their hair always so perfect? I could never keep my hair looking that good if I had to chase around kids all day.” She looked at me and said, “wait, are you serious? It’s a wig!” I had no idea and we both had a good laugh. I went home and found lots of YT channels to help me understand the religion and how to best serve the population. I have to say, ultra orthodox patients have been the kindest, most gentle, and extremely grateful patients I have had. Of course there are exceptions, but most have been such loving, kind hearted people. ❤️ I do not understand all of the hate and comments made by “regular” Jewish people, Catholics, etc. It hurts my heart. We should all spread love.

Shloime, you have amazing inner strength to sustain an atmosphere of mutual respect and candor in an environment of people formerly associated with ISIS. Despite their admitted wariness of Jewish people, not only did you maintain a civil and meaningful dialogue, but you had these very same people subscribing to your channel and taking selfies with you - proof positive that human understanding and communication is indeed attainable. I have even more admiration and respect for you than ever, Shloime - great job!

I am a person converting to Judaism. I had a similar experience when I "snuck into" an anti Israeli/pro Palestinian University event in UBC in Canada a while ago with my Chabad kippah and tzitzit out. It's very interesting how some people literally do not know what the person they hate looks like. They assumed I was Muslim actually due to my beard and kippah that covered my whole head. Same thing happened once in an Islamic centre in Montreal. I was living in Thornhill btw Shloime and I am glad to know you are a Thornhill native too!

I get that they were teenagers when caught by Isis, but now why do they still hate other people without even tell one from another? After all the horror...Are they not tired of hatred and giving to others the responsibility of their misery? They should get some education in those camps. There is always a chance of growing up and become a better person.

Also, just being honest it was not corrext saying to Peter Santenello in a previous video that you cannot convert to Judaism. Maybe he was meant to hear that from HKBH but converts are a big part of Judaism and highly respected. That's why we pray for them 3 times a day every day in Amidah. Of course I haven't finished my giyur so I don't claim any of those things but for the sake of showing another side of yahadut I think Shloime you can do great interviews with people like Nissim Black and Michael Ben Avraham, and other famous converts. There is many of them and more are coming. B"H me soon!!

Even in the city, you hear people make snarky comments about Jewish people- in Jersey too. It’s just so unnecessary and rude.
