As you said “a stunning victory” and might I add a stunning commentary! You’ve got a knack for this. Keep it up.

Go should be as big as chess. I wonder if they will ever have cross tournaments or even strategic board Olympics in the future! Oh the hopes and dreams. This would aid in growing both sports imo

I really wish we had world championships with finals in the format of Japanese titles at some point. And having more and more extensive best-of sets would be really nice.

Park Junghwan's name is written slightly wrong. H comes before the W. Thanks for your videos, they're always great!
@telegraphgo Жыл бұрын
I've seen it both ways before, do you know how to pronounce it properly? I don't really know what "hw" sounds like, usually that sound is represented by "wh" in English anyway. I suspect you're right though

By 25:49 it looks like P16 is acting as a ladder breaker to capture a cut at Q12. It wouldn’t surprise me that at world championship level, that the answer to P16 influenced the choice of R12 knowing that in some of the variations that follow P16 is in a good spot for ladders. It’s just an idea to pick apart that combo. Hard to know where Gu Zihao plays if black answers differently

what software are you using to show the game? it features some smooth animations 😊
@telegraphgo Жыл бұрын
The goban is from the game Just Go on steam, which has a nice 3d animation from Unity. I use a couple of effects from GLAT (Link in the description). The overlay is just a bunch of stuff I cobbled together myself, a Telegraph original! 😀

Great commentary! Maybe it's just the moves but I found it entertaining and easy to follow, which is saying a lot as I am only an occasional Go enjoyer, mostly into other strategy games I wish that you would use English terms instead of (?) Japanese I know many of the (?) Japanese terms are common and well-known in Go but we are discussing in English, it would be nice to at least give an English translation the first time you use a term Thank you very much
@telegraphgo Жыл бұрын
Great to hear you enjoyed! It's definitely my bad habit to use Japanese terms, I try to avoid them, but for a select few usually I don't even notice it isn't a native English word to be honest. Good idea to provide translations when I catch it in editing, I'll work on that!

Thanks for the video, my wife is fascinated by your accent... could you possibly shed some light on your unique and beautiful English?
@telegraphgo Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I've lived my whole life in upstate New York, so I'm not really sure where the accent comes from. My linguistics professor in college told me that it sounded vaguely nordic because I extend my vowels a bit like they do. I think I just enunciate slow because I think slow 😅
