I am an alcoholic. It has been my coping mechanismn for years for different reasons. Past week I started to pray to the Lord to help me to defeat this addiction. I quit drinking today, it's hard but I feel the Lord helping me. This sermon coming to me today, shows me that the Lord is on my side and is standing with me in this hard battle. The Lord will save me. Thank you bishop for this sermon. Pray for this sinner if you can find it in your heart.

In my 70 years of life and of being a Catholic, I have heard too many sermons/homilies telling me it is my fault that Jesus had to suffer so terribly. That I should be constantly guilty for causing Jesus’ suffering and death, that because of my sins I will never be good enough. In the back of my mind I felt, not so, there is more to this. Yes, I am sorry for my sins (and I go to confession often) but it is the love and mercy of God given to me through the absolute love of Jesus in his redemptive death on the cross that is my source of joy, not guilt. I am loved completely because nothing will separate God’s love from me, and everyone. Jesus took on everything, every suffering not to make us feel guilty but to show us and give us the embrace of mercy, love, freedom from guilt. How do we respond to that? By taking up our cross daily and loving and forgiving and being joyful. Give each other a smile.

What makes you think your faith is respectable? Men have always known God as a tool of fiction & nothing fails like prayers in a children's hospital. How is it possibly ethical to suggest the equivalent of a notion we all travel with one foot in a stranger's fantasyland, using fictional vocabulary: prophecy, prayer, etc.? Moses: World's worst navigator leads everyone following as if one travels best with one foot in The Garden of Eden. Believers mindlessly suggest it is a good idea for us to suspend our disbelief, granting God made Mormons so Christians would know how Jews feel. Jesus Christ says faith is worthless as a mustard seed when it comes to telling mountains to move with expectations of obedience. The Christian gospels have a joke called the zombie apocalypse and they are played to embarrassment about it now. The gospels have given us the new Jews, but this one gives guidance to eat the body & drink the blood, which is abhorrent, this is what comes of putting the new wine of Christ into an old Jew wineskin. Atwill rests upon great shoulders & now we know the joke. Jesus says, think not I come with peace, but sword, & lists more horrors of The Teacher. What makes you think your faith is respectable? See videos: New research expands on J Atwill's discovery that the story of Jesus is a parody of Emperor' Titus' victories. Paul the Apostle: Liar and Conman | James Valliant, Rabbi Tovia Singer Psalm 22:16 Dead Sea Scrolls and some manuscripts of the Masoretic Text, Septuagint and Syriac; most manuscripts of the Masoretic Text me, / like a lion This verse, which is Psalm 22:17 in the Hebrew verse numbering, reads in most versions of the Masoretic Text as: כארי ידי ורגלי, which may be read literally as "like a lion my hands and my feet". Men have always known God is a tool of fiction. Gal 3:13 "Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us." It is by faith in God we have Moses: World's worst navigator, with one foot in The Garden of Eden. God & Faith have a perfect record of doing nothing, so we have the sayings, God helps those helping themselves & nothing fails like prayers in a children's hospital. The beauty of this narrative is the symbol of the Messiah crucified by Roman solders. The Jews are forever defeated by a remembrance of …. See videos: New research expands on J Atwill's discovery that the story of Jesus is a parody of Emperor' Titus' victories. Paul the Apostle: Liar and Conman | James Valliant, Rabbi Tovia Singer Faith is used all the time in this fiction. All men know God is a tool of fiction. The context is a gathering crowd upon which Jesus is reminded of Jonah. The point is faith is worthless: The superstitious are dangerous. Luke 11:29-36 "As the crowds increased", Jesus said, “This is a wicked generation. It asks for a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah. Jonah 1:15-17 KJV So they took up Jonah and cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from her raging. Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice unto the LORD, and made vows. The superstitious crowd is wicked. The Joke is having a miracle in every chapter. The link is to Moses, who we know as the worst navigator in the world, with one foot in The Garden of Eden. Gal 3:13 "Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us." This is Jesus giving a righteous tongue whipping to people seeking signs, wonders, a circus, a clown, a miraculous happening. Those seeking someone with magic powers. Of course, such things are impossible, because if you had the smallest amount of faith, you could move mountains in fantasyland. Everyone knows God is a tool of fiction. The wicked believes by signs. The Book of Jonah 11 Then they said to him, "What shall we do to you, that the sea may quiet down for us?" For the sea grew more and more tempestuous. 12 He said to them, "Take me up and throw me into the sea; then the sea will quite down for you; for I know it is because of me that this great tempest has come upon you." Rsv It is by faith Jonah was picked up and tossed overboard, being mindless, he asked for it.

Once again, Bishop Barron has masterfully illuminated the meaning of a well-known Biblical text by elaborating on important context. Truly we can count on God Who loved us so much He came to us and faced the worst pain and then redeemed it as the means to bring us to life. That is Good News!
@paulrubio39188 ай бұрын
A point for further discussion that would be beyond the scope of this homily is how much exposure to give ourselves. If we're afraid of something, it might not be helpful to start out full force, like Christ facing the worst of human suffering. Since I'm not an expert, I'll leave it to them to offer their insights.

Very dear and much revered, Your Excellency, Bishop Robert Barron: Always look forward to being enlightened By The Holy Spirit...through Your eloquent and learned unpacking of The Word Of GOD❣
@sonnyjoseph42178 ай бұрын
In continuing the👆discussion, might it also be "suggested" that there exists, perhaps,, another (Spiritual) dimension too: On The Cross Of JESUS is💯(fully)manifested, through the brutally mangled Body Of JESUS, effects of the ugliness of Humanity caused by sin😖. In Greater Measure though, IS Revealed, The Unfathomable Love Of GOD for His Creation, Humanity...In Giving Of Himself Through His Only Begotten Son JESUS: sinless, yet brutalised, and made an ugly spectacle of, "raised up" on the salvific cross meant to serve the purpose of being a CONSTANT REMINDER to the whole of Humanity, sin's harmfully grotesque ugliness, beckoning us to kill any and all inclination(s) towards sin.
@sonnyjoseph42178 ай бұрын
Addressing another question You ask @3:03 in the video is for concluding👆discussion: "Why in the world would holding up an image of the snake that harmed them, why would that cure them?"...Here, it is conceivable that the same analogy described earlier does apply: The held up image was A CONSTANT REMINDER of a danger that was ever-lurking, which the Israelites would be beset with upon their rebellion against GOD, on their journey: they needed to search for and KILL the snake(s), thus 'finding their cure' for (this)problem.
