There's absolutely no comparison in the amount of interruptions Alyssa does vs Sunny. Maybe Joy's interruptions can be comparable to Alyssa's. First of all, Alyssa wasn't for book bans, but I wouldn't classify curating the books in a school library "banning". To ban a book means it can't be found anywhere. You can still go to your local library to read the book. Even though some of the books which were prohibited I disagree with in that it should've been allowed, but "ban" isn't the correct word.

Hate speech does equal free speech actually. You don't get to decide who gets to say something based on some arbitrary person able to claim to be offended by such speech. Defamation is not legal. The free speech aspect that is being discussed here is the fact that social media companies during the last couple of years have become the arbiters of truth. I think there's actually 3 categories that they are confusing as 2. It's not just Fact vs Opinion. It's Fact vs Opinion vs Lies/misinformation. You can say a fact, you can say whatyou think about something, and then you can try to pass a lie as a truth and trick people into thinking it's real. The first 2 should be allowed no matter what IMO whether it's hateful or not (just unsubscribe, downvote, block, etc.). The last one is what needs to be banned.

That’s what Alyssa was doing, can’t you see it? She kept interrupting Sunny as soon as she started talking. Sunny didn’t interrupt her in the beginning even though she didn’t agree with Alyssa at all. If others on the panel were agreeing with Alyssa, do you think she’d still interrupt her. Basically what she was doing was shutting down those whose opinion differs from hers.
