Alice did not die with Layne. Yes, hes one of my idols, myself being a fan of the band and a musician. But Jerry has always been the primary creative and executive force. He wrote almost all of the songs and even a lot of lyrical content that Layne would sing. As long there is Jerry, there will be Alice. is duvall as good as Layne? No. But he does a decent enough job. And honesty, nobody could ever equal Layne in the eyes Alice fans. But regardless, If jerry chooses to continue, then he should.

You got to think of it not as whos better. But Layne was his own person, singer, artist whatever you want to call it. While William is doing his own thing not only as a tribute to Layne but to keep Alice alive.

@LutherRayable It's weird, I understand where you're coming from and had the same attitude. I had a hard time adjusting to Duvall being a rabid AIC fan who's supported them from the beginning. At the same time, AIC have such an awesome musical legacy that it would be a shame for them NOT to play past songs. You're a musician, wouldn't you want to play your entire catalog past and present so that NEW as well as your old fans can enjoy them?

I didn't agree with Layne being replaced, him, Corey Taylor (when he sings), and Maynard Keenan are my favorite singers flat out. I can't see anybody filling Layne's shoes as well as William Duvall has. Except maybe Scott Wieland if he didn't go back to stp. Point being, Jerry wrote and still writes 90% of the music and I think Duvall was a great choice to sing those songs even at least 75% as well as Layne did. Rest in power Layne Thomas Staley.

This is the conclusion i keep coming to. Say ur a huge AC/DC fan in 1980. Do you never listen to or accept any album after highway to hell? And they only waited a few months to replace Bon Scott. Not to mention, Brian Johnson is a classically trained singer who intentionally chose to use Bon's singing style. (He now admits to regretting the decision, his voice is shot because of it) think about that one long and hard.

With all due respect.....I'm not out to bash this current line-up for it's new material.Being a musician myself and having actually met the band in 1990 at a bar on halloween i have alot of respect for them and any band trying to live the dream.But don't sing set lists that are full of past works man....It's just-FUCKED UP! And it doesnt do this band any favours.I personally dont hear anything that jumps out at me like the old(genuine article) AIC.But thats just my opinion.just sayin.

MAN...........I don't see this band doing what it's doing for very long...In fact i'm stunned that after saying how he would never do "something like that" heres Sean Kinney endorsing a band that continues to sing songs from past works with a guy(who is clearly talented BUT) who models his voice to sound similar to ....the departed(RIP brother!).Now im all for this band to be succesful,but LOSE THE FUCKN CRUTCH! Name the band something that is in relation to the four current members
