First of...Lebron is super incredible nothing like I've seen before him top ten of all time easily...But with the rules changes and this soft play in modern times, Lebron isn't a go to guy when it count (Not Clutch) and his finals record Lebron hasn't done enough to dethrone Mike by a longshot and it hurts to write this after last nights 51 point game by The King that boy get's busy! I have my favorites but i'm a realist and Jordan is the best ever I can't deny that...Russel, Chamberlain, Baylor, Robertson, West, Gervin, Erving are The 4fathers of Basketball and I hold them in the highest esteem but the level of Competition wasn't like what Mike, Bird, Magic, Dominque and the other greats from that era had to deal with night in night out, That's just the facts...So the only player that people could have a legit debate about being the GOAT is Kareem for his dominance throughout 3 decades other than that I don't see anyone else realistically matching Mike!

I won't even grant you that he's the MJ of his time. MJ was defined by his heart and killer instinct. Bron doesn't even embody that. I'd imagine that if you built the teams around players like David Robinson, Pat Ewing, Hakeem Olajuwon, and plenty of others like that, you could go 4-7 in the finals. Just swap Bron out for a Larry Bird on any of his Finals teams, and I can guarantee you it wouldn't be 4-7!!!

A little Finals history lesson for all the folks who just started watching basketball. What everyone fails to mention in that game 6 against the Suns where John Paxson hit the game winning 3 pointer was prior to that shot, nobody other the Michael Jordan scored a single point. Let that sink in; the Bulls scored 19 points in that fourth quarter and MJ scored the first 16 points until JP hit that shot. Thank you for your time.

It's crazy to me how easily people forget how great MJ was. I have to admit that at this point in my life, I've seen more of LeBron's games than that of Michael's. Every single time I watch LeBron, I always say, this guy is the best in the world. But every time I watch MJ play I feel like I am watching anime. The way he moves, the way he scores, his intensity, the ambiance of the entire arena when he executes a magnificent play is so other-wordly that it doesn't seem real to me. The eye test alone says a lot about the two players. You have the best in the world in LeBron James and then you have MJ who is this mythical, other-worldly entity who doesn't feel real. No one can be that good, right? LeBron's "block" on Iguodala made me jump up in excitement! But the way MJ executed his free throw line dunk in the dunk contest LITERALLY made me shed a tear. I know those are two completely different highlights, but I can think of so many other MJ highlights that resonate with me, I am not sure why I chose the dunk contest one. Maybe it resonated with me the most? You gotta admit, Wilkins vs Jordan sounds like two heavy weight boxers going at it at the highest level. LeBron is an all time pantheon player. But MJ was an artist and the basketball court was his canvas.

The thing is when MJ got smashed by Boston, he didn't take his jersey off and go to the Knicks.... He came back harder. Now having a young INEXPERIENCED Scottie Pippen whom had to take a minute to develop (he only averaged 7 pts at the time), and a rookies Horace Grant, BJ Armstrong (which became the nucleus of the first 3peat squad) to grow with him, and then they got Paxson from S.A. the obstacle this time was the Pistons, whom Jordan took "L's" from for those back to back Badboy titles..... He didn't switch teams by this time Pippen, Armstrong, Grant, and Paxson had grew with him and then he overcame. Now what they did afterwards you could call them a "super team" I simply don't think so... That squad came from playing with someone for so long you grew together, not ready made squads.

The fact he couldn't because there was no free agency is why he didn't take his jersey off. The revisionist MJ history grows every year. When he didn't win there was an acceptable reason for it; when he did it was solely because of his indomitable will and never because of a key player injury or weakening of a team because of the expansion draft. The ironic thing is MJ doesn't need the help. He balled out and won. It would have been interesting to see what he would have done against a fully intact Detroit Pistons not weakened by the expansion draft or against a Bird not hobbled by a bad back. Well never know but omitting the fact there were players/teams the Bulls couldn't beat is a bit unfair in the storytelling.

Richard Bass thank you! Take that Shannon Sharp. The nerve of him to act like Paxon was the man in that game 6 vs. Suns. And the Kerr shot, MJ set that up. This stuff is on video. "Watch Stockton coming to double. Be ready." MJ basically changed Kerr's life. And if you watch that play MJ coulda still shot the ball with a decent look instead of passing to Kerr. When Lebron speaks about how Jordan wasn't even involved in the final possession where the 3 pointer was scored is exactly what Kobe was trying to relay what Phil Jackson told him. Empowering your teammates isn't just about YOU passing them the ball, it is about instilling confidence as A TEAM so everyone can step up when needed. Lebron doesn't understand this because if he did he wouldn't demand the Lebron system and would actually train with his team and implement a style that would be more effective instead of moaning about how your team mates are trash.

The Super Sonics with Payton, Kemp, Detlef S., etc.. with George Karl as coach. And Utah twice! Before he left Hakeem was in Houston, and David Robinson neighborhood was in S.A. the parity in the NBA was spread pretty even, opposed to how it is today. Jordan could have tapped out like LBJ did in Dallas after they lost that first game to the Lakers... this is where him and LBJ is different....They came back and won 4 str8 on L.A.'s ass....(that's where the Assassin comes from) LBJ and MJ (the GOAT) are in two separate (by a lot) planets....MJ is just a different kind of animal.

What I mean by that is, no one would be mad if that top 3 was put in literally any order, no matter who is 1,2, or 3. You can't say that with Lebron or Kobe. Kobe was dope but he hardly makes top 5.

They're fighter not a quiter (sorry lebron excuses doesn't make you a winner) Kobe is good i love him too but for me Jordan will still be and always will be the greatest player of all time! They talk about game 6 of the 93 finals and Paxon hitting the 3 to win it but there’s a key piece to that story that the LeBron lovers always leave out. That 3 point shot by Paxon is the only basket scored by a Bulls player not named Michael Jordan in the entire 4th quarter. So don’t give me this Michael had help BS if it weren’t for Michael Jordan the Bulls do not win that game if not for Michael Jordan the Bulls have still never been to the finals. When the game is on the line in this type of situation LeBron doesn’t step up like MJ he quits on his team he disappears just like he did in this year’s finals starting in OT of game 1 and he never showed up after. LeBron should never be mentioned in the same conversation as Michael Jordan

Funny how MJ fans don't like it when you use the same illogical arguments against MJ. And Paxson is hardly the only Bull to hit big game winners for MJ. MJ fans forgot them all. It's not even the only time Paxson did it. Paxson won game 5 for the Bulls against the Lakers in 1991. Paxson was even named player of the game.

HarpoSpoke LeBron James is the one speaking claiming that it was Paxon that saved Jordan and the Bulls in the 4th quarter of that game. He’s trying to diminish Jordan’s legacy and what he did carrying his team to help solidify his own legacy. Sounds kind of hypocritical to me considering how many times he bailed out on his teams when things got tough.

Bill 11 Rings Russell The Paxon shot to win the series was a set play, which was executed perfectly. The Kerr shot was also executed as part of a plan formulated in the huddle during a timeout. Kerr even said in various interviews that Jordan told him that he'll be doubled by Stockton and to be ready to take the shot. The Ray Allen shot, on the other hand, was a stream of luck bailout for the Heat and Lebron's "legacy." That's the difference.

Shitty roster Jazz? 1997 Jazz -MVP Karl Malone in the Finals along with a past prime but still great Stockton. - This Jazz team beat Shaq's Lakers 4-1, and Shaq was held to 22 ppg on 49% after doing 26.2 ppg on 56% in the season. So much for him being too big and strong for the 90s defenses to handle - Shaq has a combined 1-8 playoff record against Karl Malone's Jazz, even after he made the NBA Finals in 1995. - This Jazz team, even past their prime, also locked down several superstars from the 2000s. 1998 Jazz - In the 1999 playoffs, this Jazz team shut down Chris Webber. The same Webber that nearly led the Kings past the 2002 Lakers with an injured Peja Stojakovic. After having 20 ppg on 49% in the season, Webber was held to 15 ppg on 39% against the Jazz. Webber also struggled against the 2002 Jazz. - The Jazz in 1998 beat the Spurs with a rookie Tim Duncan 4-1. Duncan averaged the same amount of points that he did in the regular season, but his FG% dropped from 55% to 49%. - Sure, Duncan was a rookie, but he also won Finals MVP the very next year in 1999 as a sophomore. - The Jazz then swept Shaq's Lakers in the 1998 WCF. - The Jazz went 62-20 in 1998 even with Stockton missing 18 games.

Suns roster - 93 Suns with MVP Charles Barkley. - They also had Kevin Johnson. In 1990 against Magic's Lakers, who had gone 11-0 before losing in the Finals the year before, Kevin Johnson upset Magic as he led his 5 seed Suns past the number 1 seed Lakers in the second round. And that was without Charles Barkley. - Kevin Johnson's 6 best seasons outperform Chris Paul's 6 best seasons from a scoring and assisting perspective, and Johnson did it without the inflation benefit. - Kevin Johnson was only a 3x all-star, but Chris Paul was as high as 2nd in MVP Voting - proof that the standards of high quality are far lower in the 2000s. - He also outperformed Derrick Rose's MVP seasons -Kevin Johnson, along with Magic Johnson, is the only player to average 20+ ppg and 10+ apg and 50% FG in 2 seasons. He fell barely short of a record 3rd season in 1989/90 when he shot 49.9%. Along with Oscar and Isiah, he is the only player to average 20+ ppg and 10+ apg for 3 straight years, and fell barely short of tying them with a record 4th straight year when he averaged 19.7 ppg. It says a lot that Jordan beat Magic, Isiah, and KJ, shutting down both Isiah and KJ while also taking care of Magic in the OT of Game 3 in the 1991 Finals. -The Suns went 62-20 even with Kevin Johnson missing 32 games. A testament to their huge depth and Barkley's greatness. -Jordan had a harder time scoring against the 93 Knicks than in any of his four playoff series against the Pistons. LeBron never and ever face those kind of teams

One thing is for sure... MJ is nothing w/o the BULLS!!!!!! That's it... Wanna know why? MJ played 2 seasons with the WIZARDS... I am old enough to have seen the end of Jabbar's career, the end of prime to end of Julius Erving's career, all of Magic, Bird, Isaiah, Shaq, Kobe, Iverson, Duncan, Malone...both Karl and Moses, Akeem the dream, the Admiral, Clyde the glide, and anybody else from the late 70's up to now and I have watched enough film and listened to enough stories to know of the greatness of Wilt, Hawkins, JoJo White, Reed, Baylor, Robertson, Mikan, Russell, Pistol Pete, The Logo, Pee-Wee Kirkland, Len Bias, Earl Manigold, and essentially anybody worth discussing in a good basketball conversation. The conversation begins and ends with four players. *Wilt was the most dominant force ever, but he didn't have a game that made his teammate better like Russell...so less rings. Russell and Wilt both played with less talent around the league overall due to issues of race and business bottom lines that forced owners to play inferior talent due to increasing worries about demographic shifts and how that messes with marketability. *Jabbar was the greatest scoring big-man and his numbers bear that out, but he frequently came up short in clutch moments which may not be able to be blamed all on him...since he has to get the ball from a point guard back in those days....and sometimes they didn't give it to you based on what they saw. *Lebron is a monster...plain and simple. He should be counted as one of the best when he had the pressure of following Jordan's era! He is dominant at times and has an exceptionally high basketball I.Q. Though he can be a liabilty at the end of games due to his lack of clutch shooting and his less than stellar free throw shooting which tells you what you need to know about his shooting touch...which I bring up when discussing Magic...cause he often gets a bad rap as a not so good shooter...when magic could fill it up when he decided he needed to. Lebron is truly amazing when he decides he wants to play like the best player on the planet....that just doesn't seem to be all the time. In some games....he should be selfish because he is the best scoring option and yet he defers. Being the man is more than having the most talent...it's also having everybody in the building knowing who is getting the ball and saying..."give me the rock" and then scoring that bucket! And that brings us to *Michael. Because he played a physical above the rim style of basketball it is often forgotten that he was a clutch shooter when open shots presented themselves or when he needed to create them because defenses would pack the lane to shut down his drives. He wanted the ball in big moments and never shied away from big moments. He was the most creative player around the basket with moves and getting the ball up on the glass with a chance to go in...even when he couldn't see the rim. Straight line speed and vertical leap were amazing and he could take a beating from real centers...which the game has few of today. Jordan was also a bit of a physical specimen after transforming his body and adding muscle to combat the "Jordan Rules"...which were essentially opposing teams deciding to foul him and hit him often to wear him down during games. His point averages say enough about his scoring ability and his 6 rings in 6 finals appearances say enough about his championship pedigree! He did all of this while also being considered the best defender of positions 1-3 of his era. He had a handle that could rival many PG's of his era and if rules had been as lax...I am sure we would see many more crossovers from him rather than him dribbling around guys off spins and going through his legs to get defenders off balance. By the eye test to those having watched both play...it's not really close, because MJ was doing incredible things on the basketball court and it was clear he had no equal. I suggest those people watch LeBron more closely, cause he is incredible and it's closer than any of us MJ fans would like to admit, but MJ in his prime would beat LeBron 1-on-1 due to his shooting. Yeah...LeBron would back him down, but LeBron isn't Akeem or Duncan with his back to the basket and he doesn't have a fade away the likes of Bernard King or Karl Malone. MJ would use his speed and shooting once LeBron misses and has to deal with MJ's mouth...which is a no brainer who wins the psychological match-up!

You made allot of good points. I haven't seen as much as you have. Michael Jordan and LeBron James I definitely seen them play. One hundred percent positive that it ain't close. Theirs things that Michael Jordan has done and no player has done on the court to this day. We all pick guys we like. But this is about honesty and integrity. Michael Jordan has no equals on the court. Believe me I looked. It'll be a long time before it might happen again. As of now and beyond, Michael Jordan is the greatest of all times until a real successor takes and elevates his game beyond Michael Jordan game to become the goat. We definitely have a long wait on our hands.

sabin97 Over 3000pts in a season and lead league in steals, and most blocks ever for shooting guard. Follows that season with 35 pts gm and DPOY. Leads in steals again and more blocks than any guard ever. Jordan never played with a dominant center or another player that demanded a double team. Jordan basically beat super teams in first threepeat almost single-handedly. Second threepeat, Pippen was a bonafide super star, and Rodman was a hall of famer, although he didn't score much. Jordan basically dominated the NBA with a bunch of role players for 11 years. He had Rodman for 3 yrs. Rodman's dominant years were in Detroit. Pippen was great the second threepeat.

These kids talking about LeWeak James is the goat are buying Air Jordans at a record pace 30 years later and have never seen him play other than on KZbin. I gaurantee you people will not buy LeWeak sneakers 10 years from now. MJ still have the best selling sneakers today and the first model was released in 1984. MJ is the blueprint of the brand. It's not even just about numbers. He bought style and charisma to the game. He was the first to wear the baggie shorts and the low socks. He was the first to do post game interviews suited and booted making 10x more money off the court than on the court. And all the players today think they are a brand. Don't nobody want to buy your shit if you are not a winner. You have to have a game before you think you have a brand.

It's a new Era now, new Sherrif. if LeBron James is weak why are opposing coaches in the Finals, former MJ teammates not saying hes weak while dropping like 60 pts vs a superteam? Talking shit on LeBron like MJ has no skeletons in his closet, swept in the 1st round so many times, LBJ with no star got swept vs 4. ofc

41:20 The NBA was once made up almost entirely of GROWN MEN, whose pro careers typically began at age 22, after 4 years of college basketball. Those 4 years are EXTREMELY CRITICAL to the development of any young man’s maturity, education, and character. MJ entered the pros after only 3 years of college, while guys like Magic and Isiah entered after only 2 years. At that time, such players were the EXCEPTION and NOT the RULE. Today’s NBA is almost entirely occupied by young men who have been allowed to SKIP this critical stage of development, which has led to a league full of FREAKISHLY TALL CHILDREN. No one is denying that LEBRON is a GREAT PLAYER. However, even if his numbers were even remotely close to those of Mr. Jordan (which they are NOT), the fact is that the league Lebron James has dominated over the past 15 years has been a league that is WOEFULLY INCOMPARABLE to the one that Michael Jordan dominated.

I think what I hear you saying is that Jordan just may have benefited somewhat from his years under Dean Smith before entering the NBA. If you had the chance to play 2, 3, or 4 NCAA seasons for Wooden, Smith, Bobby Knight, Coach K., Dale Brown, John Calipari, Jim Boeheim, Jimmy V., isn't there a chance you'd become a better person and/or NBA pro having played for them?

It's not like Lebron was by himself and went up against HOUSTON or GS in the FIRST round. Swap MJ with Lebron and he's getting swept in the first round, and MJ is going to at least win 2 games playing with Kevin Love. Stop saying Lebron's team is trash... The entire world knew about Michael Jordan and this is before social media and even the internet prior to "95" Michael Jordan was like watching the most satisfying and electrifying movie ending every time he stepped on the court. Michael Jordan`s journey with his beloved Chicago Bulls and teamates through beatings and losses to become the powerhouse of the 90`s with two 3peats is something todays kids will never be able to relate with. That whole era changed and inspired so many peoples lives and still does to this day. MJ is the GOAT :-)

Totoy Kupalin MJ averaged 43 ppg and GOT SWEPT thats prime, he had a shit team vs 4 HoF. I would rather have fans understand who MJ faced 'early' vs what he faced in his prime. If MJ was in his prime he still would've got fucking swept dickhead (especially by Golden State). I also would rather have fans who understand when MY team isn't comparable to a Superteam and it's a team game. Name the team with more talent than the Bulls in the 90s? Exactly. LBJ average 35 ppg vs 4 All Stars = still shouldnt get swept. could've averaged 40 and got swept, look at his team, 1 great player isn't beating GS

@totoykupalin1047 5 жыл бұрын
So you basically saying that MJ got a better teammates than LeBron? Lmao Lebron joining the Heat with DWADE who already won a championships and had averaged 30ppg, and CBOSH who had averaged 24ppg. Both were already in their PRIMES and ALLSTARS. Again.. Scottie wasn't an Allstar when he joined the Bulls. Lebron Left HEAT to join Cavs who already had Kyrie 25ppg, and they also acquired KLOVE who had a 26ppg, 10+ rpg season. Lebron has never won without TWO additional Allstars. LEBRON has played on 7 SUPERTEAMS. MJ did it with just one legit Allstar (Scottie) three times and then 3 more times (w/Rodman) MJ THREEPEATED Twice. Lebron got swept in Finals Twice whenever he had less than TWO other allstars with him. Think about that..
