I remember in the 2007 finals a reporter asked Tim Duncan "What do you think is wrong with LeBron's offense?". Duncan replied "I don't think there is anything wrong with LeBron's offense" The report then said "Well what are you guys doing schematically to limit him offensively?" Duncan said "We are guarding him with all 5 guys. We understand what kind of player he is. He is the best player in the world so we are respecting him as that". That was what Timmy said about a 22 year old LeBron James

Just goes to show LeBron true greatness. Guy came in at 18 years old out of highschool with MASSIVE EXPECTATIONS that NONE thought was possible to live up to but he EXCEEDED those expectations 100 times over and is probably the greatest 37 year old to ever play the game. Think about that. Owner of a tonne of "The youngest to ever do this" and has already begun owning alot of "the oldest to ever do this" records. Truly one of a kind

It's testament to Lebron's greatness that a lot of people don't see him as a scorer but he's about to become the NBA's all time leading scorer. And for people who argue it's because he's played 20 seasons, I say longevity and consistency are key parts of what makes a player great. NBA history is littered with stories of unfulfilled potential due to injuries(Grant Hill, Tracy Mcgrady, Derrick Rose etc) so trying to say Lebron's achievements are somehow diminished because he was able to play at the highest level for so long doesn't add up.

Something I always gave credit to Lebron for is that everyone saw him coming and he still succeeded. He's been covered since he was 13 and was compared to MJ at 16. Imagine if he was a little known recruit or not a #1 overall pick. People tend to enjoy underdogs more, (MJ was cut from his HS team, Larry Bird took little known Indiana State to a National Title, Tom Brady earning a starting spot on every level, etc.) and they don't tend to appreciate greatness when its sustained for so long. If he came out of no where but had the same career, no doubt people would consider him the GOAT IMO.

When Kenny was saying bron isn't someone who has broken any ground... it was a premature statement on his part to say that he wouldn't break any ground. Bron is breaking ground right now. He is putting up the best fight anyone has ever put up against father time. He is Mr. Consistency. That's what makes him the King, and I only mean that in a basketball namesake sort of way, but nobody else has been so lethal for so long. That's groundbreaking. At the same time as medicine and training is allowing players to last longer and have longer careers, he's just re defining peaks and primes. Like...his defense is probably the only thing you can say isn't how it used to be, but he can still lock in from time to time and everything is else is still crazy.

3 things help LeBron in this Era, 1. You can't play defense as hard as before era(you don't get beat up in the paint.) 2. Road trips are more luxurious, from hotels and private flights. 3. Medical advances that make can come back from what use to be career ending injuries. Bonus 4. Better diets and understanding of body needs vs wants. Which is why have hard time holding LeBron as highly. Bird and MJ were both clutch guys of their team. you knew had try stop them to win the game so both get smacked hard and still get the shot, plus LeBron best teams made he didn't get double team. He had Wade n Bosh, then Kyrie and Love. Even now he got AD, Carmelo and, Westbrook. Like MJ smoked cigars and Barkley still ate deep dish pizza would play all 82. But now half League Vegan to keep shape and get injuries like made of twigs... How many times did LeBron sat games down when healthy? But he considered Iron man....
@nobodyflowers
@nobodyflowers 2 жыл бұрын
@@camerontse6615 What does any of that have to do with him being the best? You're just talking about stuff that elevates the entire league. It's not something that exclusively helped lebron throughout his career. You can have a hard time holding him highly. Your problem is comparing him to another era. The moment you started talking about this era versus before, i already know where you going. "I have a hard time holding lebron as highly". Personal problem. Regardless of the era, you still gotta go out and compete to be the best of said era. No edge over the man across from you because y'all playing the same game. And there's no edge over players who came before you because y'all simply didn't play the same game. Stop bringing up other eras like we know how he would've played in said era or how those players would've held up in this one. We talk about defense being less rough. Okay, well how many sharpshooters did they have back then? Would they survive on a roster now with the 3 point pace or nah?

@@nobodyflowers Era comparisons are stupid af imo, like people who try to downplay Wilt and Bill cuz they played against scrubs (which they didn't), if there was no MJ, there would be no LeBron cuz of MJ's influence on him, there would be no MJ without Dr J, David Thompson, Elgin Baylor etc etc, there is no foundation to make the league even greater without the formulas that Wilt and Bill Russell defined the league with in terms of team success (which no one will top Bill Russell as far as I'm concerned) and individual talent (Wilt was so athletically gifted, and to imagine in an era which was so behind medically) and individual accolades (which no one will ever top Wilt in, again as far as I'm concerned)

@@TheOfficialMassakre Exactly. People who compare eras have no idea what it takes to be great. My entire existence in a given field is inspired by someone doing it before me, otherwise I have to start from scratch. Instead, my focus is to be mentioned among the greatest. He did win his championships over 3 completely different franchises. Like none of the others in contention for the “greatest” conversations won multiple championships over more than one or two different teams. That says a LOT. Wherever he goes he not only makes others better, he gets them to championship level playing and winning.

It's different eras, comparisons aren't really fair/accurate. Players before had longer contracts, and a slightly different mindset to finish what they started in a franchise, nowadays players are a lot more enterprising because they have more power so they have more decision over being traded. Before it was more like why should I join him, I would be seen as weak, same way we're viewing KD and when LeBron joined the big 3. It's like the people who shit on Wilt and Bill Russell. It's not fair cuz they didn't have all this sports technologies or even decent fucking shoes. Most players then needed to do another job to maintain decent living cuz the league was still young and didn't have the marketing dollars like they do now. Bill/Wilt created the foundation of excellence. Kareem held that standard. Dr. J and so many high fliers (David Thompson, Elgin Baylor) made the game exciting. Larry and Magic showed us what a true competitor and teamwork is like and legitimized the league on a national level. Michael turned the game into a global presence and the true financial powerhouse it is. And further generations are just building and building on the blocks laid down by the previous generations and revolutionizing in their own ways like Shaq, Kobe, LeBron, Steph.

Kobe and Jordan were focused on scoring the ball and they were great shooters. Bron does more than just scoring, he's gotta play the point guard position and get others involved, recently you see him at the center position. He can play the 1-5 very easily. He's not great in one category but he's good in every category. Iman Shumpert said it best if he focused on just one thing rather it be scoring or passing he would be looked at differently
