If drug addicts tried to set up camp in Society Hill, they would immediately be thrown in jail. The city government is basically telling the tax paying residents of Kensington that they do not count. After real estate prices in Kensington become depressed enough, real estate developers will scoop up properties. The city government will then clean up the area and use eminent domain to push out the residents that remain.

I have some questions…… As a society, are we prepared to take away the rights of these people for their own personal benefit? Are we prepared to make rehabilitation mandatory for these people? Are we prepared to spend millions of taxpayer dollars on infrastructure to house these people during recovery? Are we prepared to spend more money on monitoring these people after rehabilitation and recovery so they don’t reoffend? Are we prepared to jail reoffending drug addicts?
