THIS STORY:
The warlock Richard Vaugn was married to Winnifred Evans, daughter of John W Evans and Mary Jones.
This cemetery is up on a hidden hill, in a hollow. It may be one of the most evil places on Earth. Just being there gives one chills.
The old epitaph, now long gone, once on top of the tombstone, had a haunting inscription that said:
"Pause Pause dear friends as you pass by,
as you are now so once was I,
as I am now so you must be,
Prepare yourself to follow me."
Around the tombstone there used to be smaller stones, to line the hole dug for burying, in order to hold in the evil.
His name was Robert Vaughn, and he was originally from Wales.
THIS CHANNEL:
_________________________________________________________
The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.

The thing about Giles Corey and the reason he wouldn't enter a plea is that, until he made a plea, they couldn't have a trial. No trial, no verdict. And in those days, if you were found guilty, the court stripped you of your property. By not entering a plea, on his death, his property passed to his heirs instead of the court.

@@FacesoftheForgotten You're correct Ron as far as definition in a dictionary and old usage of the word. Just to clarify, I'm referring to modern day terms and I believe Water Witch is as well. I don't know of any modern day men that practiced witchcraft that referred to themselves as warlocks for example Raymond Buckland, Gerald Gardner, Isaac Bonewits, all deceased, or Philip Heselton. By the way, this was a great video! I enjoy them all! Thanks for all you do!

Ron you really spoiled us today! First the Sunday walk, and now this cool story💙 First off the drone shot with the foreboding music was AWESOME! Really set the mood for the history and stories you told about all those poor souls accused of witchcraft. It made me think that it was especially dangerous for a woman to behave in any unusual manner. Just brutally killed on bogus charges. James the 5th of Scotland btw was Mary Queen of Scots father. Things didn't turn out too well for her either . Anyway, dont know what to make of Mr. Vaughn and what you found on his grave...it just looked like it was a very weird vibe there😳 Many thanks Ron this was super interesting and you're the best storyteller!!

All the lives lost in those horrific ways is extremely sad. I would have to say the means to which these people were tortured and killed was in itself of pure evil, as though those doing the deed was the evil ones not those whose lives were taken. What was even creepier is the wind I never heard till you got to Vaughn's resting place then it picked up quite a bit.

I was taught years ago by my grandfather that both foxes and raccoons will poo on rocks to mark their territory. Both animals are creatures of habit and to see them keep using the same spot for poo is typical behavior for them. They do this so other animals will notice their poos. I have seen this sort of thing in rural cemeteries myself. it is interesting that if this man was indeed a practitioner of witchcraft, that they allowed him to be buried inside the cemetery. In those days, typically the grave of such a person would be located outside the fence, because a Christian cemetery was considered to be hallowed ground, and nobody "unclean" was allowed to be buried inside. Great video, as always.

In England, those accused of witchcraft would never be buried on hallowed ground. They would be buried at forks in the road or on the boundary edge just outside the church. Back in the 1980s, my father was digging out an old well behind the village of Tincleton's churchyard (Dorset) when they unearthed a woman's skeletal remains. It is thought that she most likely was accused of witchcraft and hence was interned just outside the church's grounds.

Hey Ron, sorry I missed the live. I thought maybe I should mention that a warlock is a guy that preforms slight of hand magic not a man that preforms witchcraft. They're two completely different kinds of magic. A witch is a witch no matter the gender. Yes, I admit I'm a witch, no not Wiccan. There are many modern witches like me that follow the old ways. We don't hurt anyone unless we feel we don't have any other choice. You wouldn't know any of us just by looking at us, we're just like anyone else.

Human beings have this inherent trait of terrible cruelty against each other, against innocent children, against defenseless animals and against nature. I can’t think of one positive thing that we have contributed to this planet. We are a true scourge on the earth. Over the ages we have never stopped being so cruel. For this reason we must be even more appreciative of the price paid for our sin. We don’t deserve that kind of love, but we nevertheless have it.

Indeed, Ron, you have done it again! I just love how you include detailed back stories to your cemetery visits. There are a lot of people on KZbin that visit cemeteries and they are decent enough, but they don’t include the depth of details about the subjects that you do! Ok, I may be wrong about this, but I thought that until about the middle of the 20th century, suicides were not allowed to be buried in “hallowed “ ground; so how is it that an out and out male witch was still allowed to be buried in the cemetery? I find that very confusing. On another note, I’m New England, there was supposedly a young woman who was a vampire and her name was Nellie Vaughan!! This happened a bit before our male witch came into the world. There’s an interesting book I think you might enjoy, it’s called Food for the Dead by Michael Bell. It is nonfiction!

Wow, what a creepy tale......a good tale for a dark Halloween night. The world has a dark morib history. Sad what different generations had to endure. Enjoyed.

I know the movie "The Craft" inspired so many younger people when it came out to get into Wicca or Witchcraft & those younger people just didn't understand fully what they were playing around with unfortunately & it caused them all kinds of problems.

This video is a gem, Ron. Really enjoyed the music/ drone beginning to get us viewers hooked in😏 Giles was not likeable but certainly the brutal pressing torture used on him shouldn't have existed. Have to admit his "more weight" statement will never be forgotten and semi- heroic at that moment!
