Thank you for a very concise breakdown. I am now more informed then when first diagnosed. Again, very appreciative.

Thank you fr this explanation. It is very important to understand better what is happening to your body and what is to be done for it in order to have it treated properly and the prognosis can come out as it should we would pray.

Excellent presentation. In 2009 I had a laminotomy with bil decompression for an L4-L5 facet cyst. I woke up with no pain but around 6 weeks later I started with severe pain down my left leg. Tried gabapentin and lyrica to no avail. I started pain management in 2010 and taking Keppra which helped my symptoms immensely. I still see pain management for injections.

Hi Dr. G, thank you so much for your detailed description of the facet cyst. My recent MRI located a right-sided intracanicular facet cyst and other findings as to why I have been having right-sided lower back, right hip pain radiating to my toes and causing numbness. I am trying to educate myself of the spine anatomy and your explanation is very helpful. Thank you.

Wow, this is exactly what I have. I am scheduled for a traditional surgery, laminotomy but I much prefer a minimally, non invasive procedure. Thanks for this presentation. It's very helpful.

This is very informative. I have a facet cyst on L5 and spondylolithesis at L4 on my left side. I'm awaiting a decompression and excision of the cyst. Is the decompression actually a laminectomy with decompression of the route nerve. I'm in a lot of pain and have sciatica down both legs mainly in the left.

I am a yoga teacher and one of my students has the same issue. She is 45 yrs old and I suggested her proper rest and no forward bends. Doc Gollogly, shall I advise her to go for surgery at this age? What's you opinion sir?

I have had major pain when I sit and bend forever since I was 18, I am now 33. I can palpate around my SI joint where the pain starts. I have had many cyst removed, all occuring on my left side of the body. MY major pain is on the left side. They did hernia surgery on me and found out I did NOT have a hernia. They assumed my pain was coming from my back. I have tried everything. How would I know I have some type of cyst like this there causing me this sort of pain? I need it to go away. Would an x-ray show? Or do I need an MRI

I have to have a Laminectomy/dissectomy on level L4/L5 of the lumbar spine. I have salovial Cyst and a bone spur to be removed. I am going with the normal open back surgery technology with 5 days in hospital and 6 weeks recovery estimated and the operation will be performed by a highly recommended and well known neurosurgeon. The operation day has been confirmed, but now i have read so much about M.I.S technology with quicker recovery and down time. I am 69 and i am now not sure which route i should go. Any suggestions.

Hello Bettie, How did it go?? as I have same issue and see 1st visit neuro tomorrow. I am 60 and a lifelong competitive athlete. Good Luck.. remember P.T. is a lifelong commitment.

How are you doing now Bettie? I have exactly same as you. Op 5 months ago. Feb 2020. I am just feeling somewhat normal now. At 6 weeks I was still wondering what had hit me. I'm 48. I see you'd be 71 now. I had bone spurs removed too. Did your mobility and quality of life improve post surgery? I hope it did.
