I went to the top undergraduate journalism program in the country. I had a friend who reminded me of Brennan: slightly Southern, strong, fiercely independent. The kind of women Trump has no chance against. She was already good on Bloomberg, which is why I followed her to CBS .

I agree totally. Margaret Brennan is admirable. Unfortunately, the design of the show and shows like it does nothing but create a platform for rote talking points, which is to say propaganda. Brennan does better than most with pushing back, fact checking, and asking questions repeatedly and then stating that the person did not answer the questions. But ultimately, that doesn't matter. The model is set up to give any person the opportunity to lie and when challenged to lie repeatedly. There's no argument to be made at this point that an American audience has the critical judgment or knowledge base with which to understand when they are being lied to and manipulated. Effectively, all these shows become co-opted by guests as disinformation outlets.

Andy Beshear is a fine young man whose Dad was governor before him,he also did a stellar job as Ky AG.However ,he would not have been elected Gov in the first place was it not for the grotesque ,tone deaf incompetence of his predecessor -With Andy we get all the benefits of basically conservative policies,without the wingnuttery .He deals masterfully with a legislature which features Repub supermajorities-Ky is a small state,so we are all a degree of separation away from knowing each other.His daily reassuring news conferences during the pandemic set the tone for his tenure.Even Kentuckians who oppose his politics ,trust him.

That was frustrating. Birx didn't answer any of the questions she was asked; she simply said what she wanted about the subject, viewing terrifying propositions with rose-colored glasses. She did admit on 60 Minutes that she believes over 600,000 American people died unnecessarily from COVID because of the Trump administration's mismanagement of the pandemic response, so what's another 600,000 under the new insane person, I guess. I am so sick of "winning" in this way.

Secretary of state is supposed to be in charge of US diplomacy, which in theory should mean making peace & resolving conflicts without violence. The US Department of State was supposed to be the peacemaking counterbalance to the US Department of War but because the US runs a globe-spanning empire that is held together by endless violence it has little use for peacekeeping, so it mostly gets used to help inflict more violence & abuse. State Department was supposed to be the Peace Dept. but in practice the US just got 2 War Depts.
