Gov. Andy Beshear says there are "absolute lessons" Democrats can learn from Kentucky

Gov. Andy Beshear, who won reelection in 2023 as a Democrat in a deep red Kentucky, tells "Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan" that there are "absolute lessons that we can learn" from his state as the party tries to regroup after President-elect Donald Trump's victory.

The big thing to take from Beshear is that many of the "progressive" talking points aren't just progressive talking points, but mainstream ones. People agree on a lot of things. This is why deep red Kentucky was willing to elect an establishment Democrat for Governor. Even though Beshear and AOC agree on most issues, Beshear has proven to be able to connect to people in a way AOC can't.

We love our Governor!! He is Centrist! Without pushing extreme left agenda and listening to people! Our state also is very traditional and nothing wrong with being traditional and family oriented! During his term in our state so many great changes ! Everywhere! He also negotiated so many investors to the state.. I never bothered but decided to look at governor site and was very impressed with result on paper! Not to mention I drive and see with my eyes great changes in the state! Of course Ky is small state ant 4.5 millions.. plenty if room for improvement.. our Governor got our support as he don’t divide people by party He only looking who love America and Kentucky and who don’t That’s how we must think - if you love America it’s what is matter!

He ignored the question of being out of touch and handled it JUST like Harris by changing the subject to what he wanted to focus on. Kentuckians want to be reassured that he is not going to waste tax money on things to cater to far left like putting tampons in male bathrooms throughout the state. It is as simple as that. I think he may be out of touch by the way he answered that question and I hope he turns this attitude around. "Crazy things that politicians said last night" need to be taken seriously if Democrats want to compete in this new world.

As a KY resident, I think that Beshear has done some good things, but there are some things he has done that I disagree with. But he is a democrat. If he runs for president, he's STILL a democrat!!! And he follows a lot of the democratic party positions, especially on social issues. So I would most likely vote for the republican candidate for president. Also, when his daddy was governor, he did not support nor stand up for Kim Davis. Would Andy have stood up for her? Probably not! But he will attend a "pride event"! And he did attack J. D. Vance. And he did cause much hardship on small businesses during the corona virus. So........no.........not Beshear for prez..........give me DeSantis or Vance.
