Hi Nerida! Kind of a random comment but I watched your previous videos a while ago. Lately I have been reminding myself to massage my face with my cleanser every night and I just want to say that my skin has never looked better, and it is definitely (at least in large part) because of that. So, I have to thank you :-) Love your videos so much.

I always learn something watching your videos, today I've just learnt that I must be allergic to Vitamin C - I tried to use the Vit C serum from Ole Hendrickson but it gave me a bunch of small bumps all over my forehead, took me a while to clear them out. I'll be on the look out for ingredient lists to make sure I don't accidentally pick something else up with Vit C. Thanks Nerida!!

Yes, good for you Amy. The little red bumps you described is exactly what happens when you are allergic to vitamin C. I find at least 10% of my clients are allergic to Vitamin C. Ole Hendrickson's line is a good skin care line...

Hi Nerida, wish I had discovered your channel sooner, but it's never too late. It was very useful to watch this video as I'm also olive skin toned. Recently, I got prescribed Hydroquinone 4% to treat melasma spots on my nose and smaller ones on my cheeks twice a day for 2 months. My question is, can I still use my vitamin C serum (using Drunk Elephant) in the mornings after the hydroquinone and under my SPF? Btw, my favourite time of the day is my evening cleanse, I take my time to massage my skin and prep it before my night skincare. I wish I would have the same time in the morning, do you happen to have a 5 mins morning massage tips? Thank you and I look forward to more of your really educating videos. 🌷💋🤗

Hi Adriana, Twice a day is a lot.... I would say PM only and do not use it more then the two months. Please make sure that you sunblock is a physical block with at least a spf50 and use it ALL the time. Massage moves for me are the same both AM and PM.....rolling upwards movements especially on my 56 year old neck :)))))

Hi Nerida, many thanks for your reply. Sunblock is a must in my skincare, happy to report back that I use SPF50 physical block; I should be safe then ;-) I'll use the hydroquinone only in the evening, I found 2x a days way too much. You look stunning, I hope I age as beautiful and as graciously as you :)))) specially if I do the massage moves AM and PM. Have a wonderful day and weekend 🌹 xxx

I love your technique. I also am hands on esthetics and believe in massage based facials. I would love to know what products you use for darker skin with acne scarring and pigmentation. I use the hydra facial and actually do not think it is the best for these issues. when you say retinol for exfoliating what are you using, thank you,
@NeridaJoySkincare
@NeridaJoySkincare 7 жыл бұрын
I like papaya based exfoliants that may contain a little glycolic. The retinol's I LOVE for darker skin, but not in an exfoliant, in serums and treatment products. Retinol's (not prescription strength ever) strengthen, shrink pores, and lighten scaring.......they help build a stronger foundation in the lower levels of the skin.......LOVE retinol's :))

@NeridaJoySkincare

I use the rejuvi line. www.educateyourskin.com But, there are many out there as you know. Your products have to make sense to you and your technique. I am big on hands-on. Some are more machine orientated. As a new esthetician, think about what you want your treatment to be? how long? start there:))

Hi Nerida, thank you for educating the likes of us. I also like you do not endorse products but would appreciate it if you could mention ingredients to look out for in products. Please i would love to know some ingredients to look out for. Thank you
@NeridaJoySkincare
@NeridaJoySkincare 6 жыл бұрын
Its not as easy as just mentioning ingredients unfortunately. A great product is looked at as combining certain ingredients, so that they all support each other and their function is doing what they say on the label they are doing. There are many good lines out there....... but first you have to diagnose your skin correctly, then choose your products. I love mild aha's (lactic and glycolic)and retinol for anti-aging personally, i love arnica, ivy and mallow extract. I love shea butter and pearl powder to name a few:))

Painful pimples are hormonal. Keep you regimen simple, cleanse with a non foaming, a light aloe healing gel and a healing/ soothing mask to absorb the dead cells but not dry the outer layer of skin. Do not over wash your face and keep you hands off your face throughout the day. Where do you live? I would like to talk more with you, as I have many questions to ask you.

I live in Ho Chi Minh city. It in VietNam. My skin is combination to oily skin but i don't know it dehydrate or not. The bigger acne after which i have after time it flat down and left red purple marks on my skin. I hardly never extract any acne on my skin, but sometime when i touch my face, i can feel hard things on my skin and i just use pressure by my hands and it out. After seen your video i have used non foaming cleanse from cetaphil everyday at night, in the morning i just wash my face with water and apply sunscreen , exfoliant mask contain lactic and Hydroxy acid from dermalogical twice a week and moisturiser. That is my routine now.

Hi Nerida I've been searching everything skincare lately because I have the MOST STUBBORN acne ever. It may sound dramatic but it's actually kind of depressing. I never had a problem with acne until I got pregnant with my daughter then my skin completely changed and has never been the same.. and that was 4 years ago. I get very painful cystic acne that takes a long time to go away and also leaves red marks for every single one. I'm truly desperate 😔 can you please possibly recommend me some products or something?

I had the same thing, although it kind of appeared out of nowhere. I had so many scars, even though I wasn't picking at anything (I mean, it's cystic acne, you literally can't pick the pimples). I tried many products (clay masks, physical exfoliators, etc), but nothing worked. I went to my dermatologist and she prescribed me a topical gel that had a mixture of clindamycin, retinoic acid and glycolic acid. Unfortunately I can't remember the name, but it helped so so much. To get rid of the scars, I used The Ordinary's Rosehip Seed Oil every night religiously (still do) - it gives your skin a beautiful glow and it minimizes the scars. If you can, my advice is go to a dermatologist or to an esthetician. They will be more equipped to help you!

Hi Nerida! I love your videos. I’ve learnt so much from them. What do u think about using Vitamin C instead of Retinol for olive skin tones? I always hear people talk about either using vitamin c or retinol and I’m always confused about which I should use. I have used vitamin c serums which are 21.5 L-ascorbic acid and I didn’t have any negative reactions to it. No burning or any of that. Is it just that people with olive skin tones should just use retinol and avoid vitamin c altogether?

Hi Nerida, love your videos! I have a question for you- is wearing makeup to the gym bad for your skin? :)
@NeridaJoySkincare
@NeridaJoySkincare 7 жыл бұрын
You can wear mineral makeup to the gym such as Colorscience, Jane Iredale or La Bella Donna mineral makeup. These are a few that will not clog your pores. You can sweat and it is always healing on your skin throughout the day. There are only a few TRUE mineral makeup brands though. Makeup such as bobbie brown, Nars, Mac etc I would NEVER wear to a gym as these brands (although beautiful as a makeup) are not healing and often comedogenic unlike true mineral makeup brands.

What skin type if any should avoid vitamin C? What other ways to treat surface dehydration besides using a mild cleanser? Just using a chemical exfoliant?
@NeridaJoySkincare
@NeridaJoySkincare 5 жыл бұрын
Vitamin C sensitivities is not easy defined in writing.... its an individual thing depending on different factors i.e. body type, skin type and allergies as am example....its determined when preforming skin analysis. If using a non foaming cleanser and an absorbing exfoliant, if surface dryness is still present, it is in need of different serums and/or a different moisture.

I am allergic to vit c and limonene.... I can tell you, if you are allergic, you'll know :D When I use a cream on my face with citrus fruits (or just creams where citric acids or similar are added) my whole face burns, gets red and weeping.

@@NeridaJoySkincare ok, but when I use it it makes me a little sensitive. I know you don't recommend prescription but what percentage in an everyday cream?

I recommend what i use and know. Every product brand retinol is different. It sometimes takes a little trial and error when introducing retinol into your PM regimen:)) Samples good be a good way to test them too. Have a look at the site that we are building www.educateyourskin.com @@cnoteschristy

do you recommend retinoids for someone in their early 20s? i’m 23 and have heard you and other praise retinoids (gentle, otc ones) and am wondering how age comes into play and what you recommend for someone my age
@NeridaJoySkincare
@NeridaJoySkincare 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can use retinol, but a mild one. My recent video with Trina, she gives the name of a mild brand you could use:))

Nerida Joy thank you for your response! for a 23 year old using a brand recommended in your video with trina, how many days of the week would you recommend i apply the otc product?
@NeridaJoySkincare
@NeridaJoySkincare 6 жыл бұрын
I would say just a couple times a week. Understand retinol has a purpose, shrinks pores, lessons the depth of wrinkles, tightens the skin and lightens brown spots. Looking at your own skin ask yourself what is it you want to see and gain? If its just to prevent aging...... twice a week in the PM is a good start:))

Hi Tara, Checks is often diet related. Cut back on dairy (mostly cheese and soy milk) and no egg yokes or peanuts. Sometimes it can also be your makeup/blush. You can reach out to me via my cell if you like 310 625-6627..... easier for me to explain that way if you are living here in the US

i used a acne cream called duac and its dry my face out so much that ive now got a fine line between my eyebrows and my skin flakes everywhere all the time. I use to have the most oily skin and now i just cant seem to hydrate my skin where its so dry, does anyone have any recommendations?
@NeridaJoySkincare
@NeridaJoySkincare 7 жыл бұрын
Get back to basics, a non foaming cleanser 2X night and 1 in the morning. Use a clean wash cloth with the first PM cleanse. Rinse second cleanse and AM cleanse. Use a light non comedogenic moisturizer every day and night. Stay away from eating dairy, peanuts, citrus juice and fried food. Drink lots of water.

thank you so much, i did as you recommended and my skin is so much better. No longer does it crack and flake everywhere i go and the fine lines don't look as predominant either anymore which is always a bonus, I've recently been told that i should use sunscreen everyday. Do you have any recommendations on which one to purchase? thank you

No, I do not. But thats not to say ultrasonic isn't good. I just find that I can treat what I need to with the many treatments products and techniques I do. My tools are my hands, knowledge and a few select products ;)

I have always had semi clear skin throughout my life but I am 20 years old now and I have been having quite a bit of texture and random pimples. is there anything I can do for texture?
@NeridaJoySkincare
@NeridaJoySkincare 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Lakota, Your cleanser is key to set the stage for the rest of your regimen so make sure you are using a mild non foaming cleanser. Use an absorbing exfoliant 2 x week (no granules) and a light non-comedogenic moisturizer :))

I do have a question. What is an absorbing exfoliating?
@NeridaJoySkincare
@NeridaJoySkincare 7 жыл бұрын
An absorbing exfoliant is one that contains either glycolic or Lactic acid and/or the papaya enzymes. Absorbs dead cells rather then a scrub. They have more of a buffing effect on the outer skin.
