this mentality isn't necessarily wrong, especially that hes coming back from an injury and he's playing a person rated higher. Expecting to lose will actually also relieve lots of stress and therefore letting you to play more reckless and relaxed tennis, that's how i beat many players rated a lot higher than me.

No. Just no. This might be true for some people but not for everyone. This mindset can be really healthy as it takes pressure off and allows you to not focus on the result, just on playing your game and on the current point. Slice can be used tactically very good against backliners and pushers to draw them into the net and pass them, as they hate playing at the net. It is true Felix is not a clay court player, evident by his flat strokes particularly on the backhand whereas his opponent was clearly a clay court player, hitting heavy topspin classic clay court tactics, high balls, etc. That being said, I have a lot of sympathy for Felix, having struggled on this surface for years against pushers. After watching you for sometime now I can say you have one flaw Felix, and that is you constantly put your opponents on a ranking pedestal. In a mental sense you give yourself a crouch going into the match as if your less skilled and destined to loose. The opponent never matters, ranked unranked your always versing yourself. Getting one ATP point or beating someone higher ranked shouldn't matter because your already winning at life, enjoy the ride the outcome is just a bonus. Don't ever put pressure on yourself, hundred's of thousands of your fans watch you for who you are now, not for what you may become. Remember we got your back win or loose, we will be here supporting your passion for life.

I'm a big fan of your channel and I see you are improving but if I could be honest for one second. I believe you play without the belief that you can win. Your strokes, serve are strong enough to be competitive in tournaments. You just need to believe in yourself more. Trust your forehand and serve. Go out there with the determination that you will give everything to win and make they pay a price to beat you. Make them die for every point. This is the mindset you need. It's kill or be killed. Felix, you are a great player. I see so much potential in you. Just like you, back in a day I tried to become a professional tennis player too. Your videos remind me of that experience, and they are very fun to watch. I'd humbly like to suggest some things to you based on what I've seen. 1. Get some short balls earlier. Not all of them. You need to chose the ones where taking them early would hurt the most. You do play a bit conservative with some short balls. But later in the point I see taking risks in other shots where you'd get lower percentages. In a way, but taking less risk, you end up taking more risk. 2. You need to lead your backhand swing with the tip of the racquet more. I notice when swinging short, you lead with the handle a little bit. Your shots are not weak but the ball is not heavy. 3. Use short angled shots more, especially on the inside out forehand. Good luck in your tournaments! If you ever come to San Diego, California... let's hit

Great channel. Can really see that you lack confidence at the moment. Clay exposes your game in particular your backhand. You have a big serve but you are holding back and serving 80% to get a high percentage in. Your game needs to be a lot more aggressive. Big serve, rip the forehand, attack the net. If I were you, I would go D1 US and play at a good SEC school to build up your game. Then at 22, go conquer the world and you will have the peace of mind of a bachelor degree. That was my route and greatest decision I’ve made. Keep enjoying the process 💪

You have a very solid mindset and awareness for a futures player! Personally as a coach i'd actually focus on some of the technical side of your game. When you time your shots up well with your hip fire, your forehand is pretty lethal to your competition! I'd work on your ability to fire your hip rotation into every FH! Whether you're a little early/late or even on the semi stretch, quite often i see you unloading your feet and body without the swing added in. Backhand work on timing when firing your left hip around the ball. As said you have solid IQ if you can learn to click on your body timing to your mindset you should start seeing these matches swinging your way! Best of luck bro! Great content
@Sthpaw2 жыл бұрын
Last thing i'd recommend is to drop the hand a bit more and drive up on the ball with the hand and accelerate your elbow rotation over the ball rather than the hand turning over the ball as much. If you see this hope this helps!

Unlucky Felix for your match. I thought overall you played pretty well but I think your opponent was a little more aggressive which made the difference in the end I think but it was a lot closer than the score suggested and your match boiled down to a few key points ultimately. I went to Aldershot to watch the futures there and saw you played in qualies and I'm sorry I missed your match! But having watched some matches and the final between the no 1 and no3 seeds, I think it's key to build your serve into a solid weapon that can win you cheap points and setup a serve +1, hit controlled aggression from the baseline where you can hurt opponents point after point, have the ability to hit aggressively deep in the corners and have a great return. What I've learnt watching performance tennis over the years, the best players are very solid but they combine that with aggression and at least one weapon. Keep going Felix as your journey is a marathon not a sprint and I'm sure you'll get your first ATP point this year👍
@markvanderwerf85922 жыл бұрын
Yep, Felix seems to lack a real weapon which makes it really difficult. Of course you can get far with this, Djokovic doesnt really have a big weapon getting him much easy points either, but for Felix it seems too low. Would be interesting to see match stats like how many winner serves or serves +1 he makes. Seems the serve could be an area of improvement. Also in rallies seems to attack too conservatively. Play controlled attack but upon an opening go really more aggressive, Felix seems forced to make too many volleys etc because the aggressive shot is too conservative. Almost as if there is some subconscious desire to go for beautiful points, ie not win the point straight away but be forced to finish it with a nice dropshot, smash etc everytime.
