This is the inspiring story of Mohit Ahuja, a man who turned personal struggles into a mission of change. Growing up in a Punjabi family in the 70s and 80s, Mohit had an elder sister, Neeru, who was born with multiple disabilities. From an early age, Mohit witnessed the challenges his family faced - from societal judgment to the lack of resources for Neeru’s education and care.
Despite these hurdles, Mohit’s parents instilled in him the values of compassion and resilience. As he grew up, Mohit transformed his embarrassment into pride, realizing that Neeru’s presence taught him more about life than any classroom ever could.
Driven by his sister’s journey, Mohit founded Know Disability Org, an organization dedicated to empowering differently-abled individuals. With no formal degrees in special education, Mohit relied on his lifelong experience as Neeru’s sibling to create impactful programs and advocate for inclusion.
This story isn’t just about Neeru’s disabilities; it’s about her extraordinary strength and the lessons she imparted to those around her. It’s about a brother who learned to embrace her uniqueness and use their shared experiences to make the world a better place.
Watch this video to learn about the journey of a family that turned challenges into opportunities, and discover how Mohit continues to inspire others to see the beauty in every individual.
