“This woman” is the mother of a boy who went to my school. She is the strongest be bravest women I’ve ever met. I remember the day the entire school was directed to the hall randomly, the confusion and mystery behind it was crazy. Our teachers not being allowed to tell us. I remember the hall not being big enough to fit us in the hall, and so we were all pushed together in a hushed state. I remember the hall falling silent when we were told Jack had died. I remember his friends walking out in hysterics, where they might not have known or just couldn’t handle the truth again. I remember seeing Selina’s post about the “choking game” I remember all of my friends sharing the posts. “This Woman” has had to endure the hardest pain in the world: loosing a child. Loosing her boy. Her Jack. You saying “I’m skeptical they’re giving it up because of this” is embarrassing. Think of the effect DEATH has. How the youtubers mothers would feel if they lost their little one.

It's the parent who have to talk with their kids about this stuff. I mean you don't ban movies with violence, you make them unavailable for kids, but if they want to watch them they find a way. So it's important as a parent to say that's only for entertainment and not made to redo

I can't believe this woman is trying to blame these random guys for her poor parenting. No different from the ones that want to ban videogames cause they instigate violence. She's not brave, she knew her son was doing that kind of challenges and did nothing till she found him dead. I'm glad she's sharing her story and she should make other parents know this is a danger their child might be facing, but trying to shame people into shutting down their channel is just.. Wrong.

We did it just for fun, and one of the girls collapsed, hit her head on the brick wall as she was falling and starting having a seizure. Freaked us out, thankfully she woke up fine. We never did it again. She had no recollection and never had seizures before that either. Watching this makes me realise how bad that night could have ended. Scary

- My Pass Out Challenge Story - I did the pass out challenge (didn’t run around a field, there’s a different simpler way to do it won’t explain how) I cannot believe it could of gone so wrong. I recorded myself doing it, I fell back onto my bed and practically had a fit on the floor. I remember being aware of what was going on and was able to pull myself out of it, it left me so confused. But i thought nothing of it apart from how strange it was (I’d never fainted, collapsed or am epileptic). I asked my friends why this happened and they said the fitting was actually because of the lack of oxygen getting to my brain. I’ve never done it since and especially after this I would not, it could of gone so different. Stay safe

LDNballer The purpose of this video is to raise awareness about what people post on the internet and how it can negatively affect people’s decisions. Comparing, in a jokingly way, people dying because of this challenges to natural selection implies that they aren’t good enough to continue living, be it because they are not smart enough, strong enough or just weak in comparison to others... That’s what Darwinism means. Your comment suggests that the fourteen year old died because of natural selection, which is just horrible.

Salrob that makes sense but I sill think there should be lots of awareness about how many teenagers have died from these games but facts like that probably wouldn’t stop people they’d just think it wouldn’t happen to them banning them isn’t a terrible idea

They are hurting others though, because they influence others. It's irresponsible to pretend that your videos aren't contributing to a trend that easily influenced people will jump on and risk their lives in the process.
@lelobster89356 жыл бұрын
Eloise Smith it’s about freedom of expression and the right for people to create what they want, as well and the responsibility of the parents to regulate what their kids watch. And I’m not pretending they aren’t contributing to this trend, but then it comes down to whether a 14 year old should be watching KZbin in the first place, I did but I wasn’t willing to take part in utterly stupid challenges. So there is some personal responsibility involved too. We can’t cushion every corner of the internet, KZbin can do what they want with their site however, it’s meant to be a space where creators can produce whatever they want as long as it is within the TOS of YT.

I am really happy that BBC is putting KZbin on blast. KZbin needs to be held responsible for the loss of lives that occur because of Thier inability to monitor videos let alone take down videos an challenges that lead to death. I feel they have personal responsibility to take action. From not only taking down videos but making videos about how dangerous an deadly these challenges are. Very sad BBC is the one calling it out. There are sickos out there who make these "challenges" just to watch people die. It's not a game, it's not a lie, it's #facts.

Watching this video, I had a flashback which caused me to plunge into a state of depression again that I’ve been repressing. In September 2018, I had a friend die in the same way as jack did. I beg of you, if you are having thoughts of suicide, or depression, or self harm, please go seek professional help. There are people out there who can and want to help you get better. That what they’ve studied and live to do. The consequences of doing challenges like these will affect people all around you, even if you don’t think it will. After my friend died, I got stuck in a pit of darkness that I’m still trying to get out of. That event has changed me forever and I’ll never be the same. I wish she was here so I could give her a hug and remind her how loved she is, just one more time... But that’s not going to happen. I hope this helps someone, even just one person. I think that the more awareness that’s raised about his topic, the less people will do these awful challenges. Now that you know how horrible it is and how it can negatively affect those around you, I hope that you feel inspired to help others, just like I do.

The fact that I tried that stupid passing out challenge alone in my bedroom when i was a dumb kid is actually such a terrifying thought. How many people must have tried it, and could have died in the place of that woman's son

You literally block your airways by choking yourself. I'm sure there's a "how to" out there somewhere....not that I'm encouraging anyone to do that, obviously. It can also be a sexual thing. I don't know if the mum said it but it was called "the choking game"
@topopops6 жыл бұрын
Rachel El it would be impossible to choke yourself and continue and die once you pass out... this makes no sense at all
@newt22536 жыл бұрын
topopops if you do star jumps and then curl up into a frog shape standing up and hold your breath, or something along those lines, that’s a way you can do it

Losing my only child, my son would be the most horrible agonizing thing to ever have happen. I 100% do not think I would survive his death at all. In my mind I want him to live forever. I just can't imagine such a horror as finding him dead like this momma did. Dear God please take me, always take me first. Let him live, let him become old & live a healthy happy life. I'm so sorry for this mom. What an adorable boy she had.

I notice a lot of KZbin channels which involve daredevils or people who do stunts in nature, gyms, etc. do have warnings; written and verbal. It really does help to know; makes it obvious that it's much more serious than just innocent safeish fun.

I don't get it??? So with this logic, if a teenager watches a movie about shooting and violence, and that person does something violent irl, is the movie to blame??? No, cus it ISN'T the fault of the movie or video, but the person who is dumb enough to do what they see, after all, none of these vids forces the viewer to do as they see, it is a choice.
@bewareebear6 жыл бұрын
The difference is it being presented as a "challenge." When someone _challenges_ their fans to do something dangerous, they _do_ expect them to do it. The responsibility isn't only on the person who takes the challenge, but the ones who create it.
@rowansteyn75936 жыл бұрын
EvaBear but they don't challenge their fans, they were challenged, but I do agree, it is the creators responsibility to at least inform his viewers not to attempt any of these challenges.
@Laura-ie7zh6 жыл бұрын
It’s a trend . Obviously this doesn’t mean the KZbinr is Straight up saying DO THIS CHALLENGE but if something becomes popular and hyped up people are tempted to do it which is still their choice but they are wrongly influenced . I think shootings are different because it’s not a trend and it’s horrific . Also challenges like this make you fit in with what’s being talked about online and among friends whereas shootings don’t . But I agree with you at the end of the day it’s a choice the person makes
@krashd6 жыл бұрын
People did the ice bucket challenge because they saw it on KZbin, not because it was in a Bruce Willis movie. Your logic would only work if some challenges came from movies but they don't, every challenge comes from KZbin, ergo KZbin is incredibly influential and so those who make a living on it have a responsibility not to be prats.
