Outside of appearance, the most appealing benefit of the prinsu is the dynamic and static load amounts (500/1000lb respectively). The front runner only recommends 88lbs distributed evenly, what a waste of $$. I've got a Thule rack system now on the factory rails, but will like switch to the prinsu soon to increase to increase load capabilities.

That makes perfect sense. I didn't realize the load rating was so different for the front runner rack. email [e-mail] and see if they can give you a discount when you decide to pull the trigger.

Great set of information presented clearly. I am leaning towards Prinsu because of the higher-than-stock static rating and low profile on my older SH Forester.

I wonder if for the extra cost, purchasing different hardware for the crossbar connections would be worth it…given what you said. Stainless steel hex heads may not match but will not rust and will break free from thread lock easier. Thoughts??

I’ve seen installs done where they drill through the black weather stripping that lays in that channel. I would assume that helps prevent the leaking not having a channel to hold water.

On the wilderness model, there was no weather stripping in the channel because it was covered by the factory roof rails. May be different on other vehicles, but that was my experience.

Ran Prinsu on my Tacoma for years and it was the best out there. Easy to install and was a few hours DIY work. Really want it for my OBW but it’s a nightmare; but hey, you can drive to Idaho and have them install it lol

Josh, can the spacers be made shorter so that the Prinsu rack is lower? I hate that horrible gap that looks like it can be eliminated with shorter spacers. Thanks in advance.

Spider Roof Racks are "No Drill". Still have to drop the headliner and make sure you add plenty of sealant.

The informative video you provided was greatly appreciated. I recently acquired a Subaru Crosstrek through Facebook Marketplace, and the seller had outfitted it with the same roof rack to the one showcased, albeit without the light bar. Featuring a 2-inch lift, impressive tires and rims, along with an older light bar from 2018, I am thoroughly enjoying my new vehicle. However, I am in need of a compatible rack system that seamlessly integrates with the existing roof rack for securely transporting my mountain bike. Understanding the modular nature of roof racks, I seek your advice on selecting the appropriate accessory to ensure safe transportation of my bike without any mishaps while traversing the freeway lol

From a person running regularly crossbars (rhinorack vortex) vs a rack, what are the actual advantages to a rack vs traditional bars? To me it feels like you gain more attachment points, but loose access to the more aerodynamic “road” storage boxes. Both can hold RTTs, awnings, shovels, and even maxtrax… maybe I just don’t get the appeal of the mpg hit of the roam boxes? I’ll admit that they do look cooler.

I think a lot of it comes down to looks as well as additional mounting options. I had crossbars at first and was limited in mounting options. Again, I think looks plays the biggest part and the Roam boxes are nice, but they don't get used too much in my case which is why I removed them. I would like to add another one with a slimmer profile to toss tools and gear in for longer trips, but I would remove it when I got home to save some cash.

I did my own Prinsu install on my Subaru Crosstrek, best mod I have ever done to the vehicle. I did the initial install mid winter in Canada, and used silicone, but the silicone was too cold, and it leaked within a week. So I redid the install in my garage and kept the silicone in a hot glass of water to keep it fluid, and it worked amazingly well when I did the install RIGHT. The Prinsu rack is fucking awesome, I recommend it, but for the love of god use sealant. Always use sealant for any mods. I used RTV sealant, its the perfect material for it and relatively a permanent solution. It has been two years since my redo, living in a boreal rainforest, on a mountain where we get feet of snow, in Canada, with zero issue whatsoever. Rack handles my direct mount ski racks, rooftop tent, roof boxes, all of it. Best mod ever.

The Prinsu rack is so low-profile and flexible, but the installation trouble vs utility (for my use case anyway) wasn't worth it. Bars it is. Which reminds me: In the comments of the wench bumper video, I asked about the fairing on that vehicle and you said it's in R&D. Any update to share on it?

Prinsu does recommend using an adhesive sealant during installation. Not to sound like an ***** but anyone who doesn’t do this is an idiot and is asking for trouble straight up! Every application in the world that involves two hard surfaces mating together in the elements has a gasket or sealer of some sort so be sure and seal it up. It’s not difficult and it’s common sense.

The rack is great. Instructions suck. The plusnuts are poor quality. They should have just went with rivnuts. Also it should come with silicone and rubber washers. I bought stainless steel hardware from McMaster and installed with crush washers and anti seize
