This man built what I barely even had in 6 hours playtime.. Definitely watching your videos, they put some insights into my mind that I never even thought of, like the bootstrapping, and not needing to FULLY AUTOMATE EVERYTHING at the start, just a couple chests, inserters, and assemblers.

TIP: when you build a beaconed smelter, build your machines with 4 spaces between the beacons (when they are in strip formation). This will allow you to nearly perfectly align your smelting arrays with your train stop! If you apply this to other non-smelter builds too. Saves resources, time & space

Been eager to play Factorio for quite some time, but I always felt quite overwhelmed, even by the in-game tutorial. Found your videos by chance and I have to say they're amazing. You explain stuff so clearly while being entertaining. They should seriously link to your videos in the tutorial menu. Thanks a lot for making these! I can already feel my grasp on reality slipping as I imagine pasta shaped factories and glorious automation.

So I would just watch some of this but the tutorial helped me so much. Like he always says he’s here to teach you but he doesn’t want you to just copy him. Play the tutorial and just enjoy the figuring it out and messing around. THAT is Factorio. Factorio is that puzzle. I actually have so much more fun now that I realized that and just started puzzling my way through step by step. Eventually write yourselves little to do lists and you just get suck into all there is. The Tutorial took me a really long time but I learned so much as I overcame the challenges. The ruined factories are helpful but DO NOT feel locked into trying to copy all that was there. Level 5 for example showed me a really great smelting area that I still use. If ya need help let me know. I just started. Maybe we can play some time.

Thank you for this series, got Factorio day one on Switch. Travel and portable were needed in life back in 2019. Had seen many people playing Factorio on KZbin and had to admit to being jealous. Was during holiday break got to sink some time into the game. Still on first build factory after tutorial, no biters because I felt I needed to learn more. Wasn’t wrong. Now I’m looking forward to next map when I finish the first. It took a bit with the robots because it’s not explained well in the tips, have learned to request items and build so far. Have to admit doing a lot of running I don’t need to do. Need to set up a rail system for collecting plastic and sulfur. Thanks again sub and like deserved.

6000 hours played?! Wow. That's impressive. I've just got over 600 hours. I discovered Factorio in December 2020 and started playing it in January 2021. I do love pasta haha. Let's get this party started! Oh yep I think I automate power first too. Zero to pasta 🤣😁.

Pasta bases at the end of the day... are the most original. One bus is almost always nearly identical to another bus... fun once, but the real variety is in the pasta!

I have locked my slightly illegal and very tempramental time machine away for this season so as not to tempt fate with any rail accident predictions. Hopefully that will mean an incident free season.. Looking forward to all the fun and the oh so tasty pasta

Nilaus... hasn't stopped, that I know of. Also: "Arguably" indeed... Factorio wiki Glossary says "A base typically is considered a megabase when it can maintain 1k SPM." ;)

@@DavidLindes to be fair pretty easy to spike from 500spm to 1k, we shall see where we take the series. Just wanted a hard fast # to be able to end the series if it gets.... 10000 episodes in :P

Instead of doing it after game completion, the research queue should just be it's own research. Make it an early-ish one, but maybe take red and green.

Is it not possible to add fuel/remove items in the same way that you were scanning for stones or whatever earlier with the big red box? Like just select everything in an area and add an equal amount of fuel to each building?

There is a mod that does that. Dont know the name, sorry. But its excellent

@@Ryuouken Even Distribution? It doesn't actually let you select an area -- you still need to mouse over each building -- but it changes Ctrl-clicking one building and dragging over others to split the fuel of the selected type in your inventory evenly between all of those buildings, instead of dropping a full stack in each until you run out.

Why don't you use the hotkeys? Do the items in your inventory always default to the same location?

Is it normal to have 14 manually fed extractors, 8 smelters and be totally overrun by biters just before you manage to setup electricity?

Hmmm... guess it depends how slow you go, and the biome you start it. If your in a desert pollution spreads much faster, nothing to eat it up.

I noticed you space your furnaces with an electric pole after every 2 furnaces. Any particular reason?

It's so he doesn't have to have a power pole on each side of the furnace.

@@YamaKara i didint get lost at a specific moment but instead i was a little too slow and made some things not that well so when i realised i fricked up with no idea how to fix it i just quit. I dont have any previous experience so thats propably also why i failed Tho ur tutorials are pretty epic and ill try again when i have more time to use the tutorial well
