Best factorio tip: Make a line with iron and copper plates on each side. Run that line everywhere, makes things so much more easier.

1.3 boilers are neeeded per engine, so 3 boilers can supply 2 engines. 1 pump can supply 10 engines 1 pump to 14 boilers to 10 engines is ideal. All the boilers in a group going to all the engines, What you're doing is pumping boiling water/steam into boilers and boiling it again. which serves no purpose.

+TheLofren im having a problem with my engines. i had sets of 4 boilers for 3 engines and they worked fine until night when power production was at max. the engines ran out of water and the boilers were not hot enough so the engines were at half performance. i was forced to switch to solar power and it works but at night i have to run off of accumulators. any idea why my boilers were messed up?

how many engines were there in total? A single pump can only supply a max of 10. I assume there was enough coal. I reccomend you always have 1 more boiler than you actually need, it gives you a buffer and more time if anything goes wrong.

TheLofren i had 5 sets of 4 boilers and 3 engines but the only thing connected with the sets was the water pumps and i had about 20 pumps because i got fed up and spammed them to try and fix it.

dont put the furnace next to the miner.... its maybe a good thing at the start but the miner put more ore out than 1 furnace can smelt also it makes it easier to acces the furnaces

Everyone's in the comments complaining about efficiency and obvious issues. If everyone does it the most efficient way, in the same style it gets boring. These guys bring their own charm to the mix.

I know this is an earlier episode than you guys have already uploaded, and I don't know if you've already solved this, but if you were to remove 3 conveyor belts in a line and have in this order a: inserter, box, inserter, you can reduce backup and clogs. Key: = - conveyor > - inserter (arrow points to where the object is placed) + - box 0 - machine ==========>+>0 hope this helps anyone with clogged conveyors (and also which side of the conveyor a resource is on used to matter, I don't know if it still does.)

Just so you guys know, you can have multiple steam engines one right after the other! So the set up would be pump, boiler, boiler, boiler, engine, engine, engine all on one line. the water will pass through the engine :) (the engines you have, the more boilers you'd need, and eventually the more pumps you'd need)

You don't need 3 boilers per engine. One boiler provides enough steam for about 1 1/3 engines if I remember correctly. Either way, 3 boilers is overkill.

I'm rather confused on the chronology and skill level of Lewis in these videos. It seems like a month ago, that Lewis was schooling Duncan on building a proper base, and Lewis seemed to have the skillsets of an intermediate player at least. But in this video, he seems to be building stuff in a horribly inexperienced way. Is he just doing this to humor Sips, or...what? I'm really confused.
