Factorio is a game in which you build and maintain factories.
You will be mining resources, researching technologies, building infrastructure, automating production and fighting enemies. Use your imagination to design your factory, combine simple elements into ingenious structures, apply management skills to keep it working and finally protect it from the creatures who don't really like you.
Join forces with other players in cooperative Multiplayer, create huge factories, collaborate and delegate tasks between you and your friends. Add mods to increase your enjoyment, from small tweak and helper mods to complete game overhauls, Factorio's ground-up Modding support has allowed content creators from around the world to design interesting and innovative features. While the core gameplay is in the form of the freeplay scenario, there are a range of interesting challenges in the form of the Scenario pack, available as free DLC. If you don't find any maps or scenarios you enjoy, you can create your own with the in-game Map Editor, place down entities, enemies, and terrain in any way you like, and even add your own custom script to make for interesting gameplay.

Wild speculation: the "planet we didn't reveal yet" will have time-sensitive items that expire if they aren't used quickly enough.

Or shields will deplete during extreme cold/hot event or outside x zone.

@@MSpotatoes I was also leaning this way after thinking about it for a while. My guess is maybe the extreme cold on the cold planet will require shield Regen or repairs or "scraping the ice off" after a while or something.

I had a wild dream once about a planet where during the day would be such intense radiation you couldnt be exposed to direct light but at night it would be a beautiful crystalline forest.

I was thinking it could be event-based hazards, such as meteor storms or enemies or something, where you need to immediately retreat to a shielded portion of your base

My idea was maybe an oceon world that occasionally floods and you need to get all the trains onto the safe mountains to keep them safe. Or something similar.

I was also curious about the "another planet with need interrupt interrupts". My gut thought was: on the purple desert-y planet, maybe there are lightning storms. One of the icon teaser they did last christmas was some kind of energy conduit; maybe it's a kind of lightning rod. Anyway, there could be large electrical storms that'll damage trains, so they need to move out of the way. Could also be some resource that only spawns occasionally, and for a limited time. Kinda like a rainbow. It's rare and short-lived, but it's also valuable, so you'd want your trains to beeline for it asap to ensure its collection.

This trains update solves so many minor issues I've long had with trains: 1. All your trains are now just one big "trains" group. No more "Copper trains", "Iron trains", etc, and no more worrying about "do I have enough Copper trains?" now it's just "do I have enough trains?" 1.5. There are groups you can make that can separate your trains, but you can do it all in the menu - no need to hunt for some specific train in the current unorganized train menu and manually change all that trains' stations and conditions. 2. Being able to set train agnostic temporary stops with specific conditions really helps, especially for people like me that barely know anything about combinators and signals and conditions and such. Now even I can: set simple station on/off combinators at each outpost, have all my trains in stackers, and when an outpost station turns on have a train go there to get whatever material, then drop it off at the appropriate drop-off and return to the stacker. 3. The auto color change based on destination is a real nice touch.

I like the color changing trains however I feel like the entire train changing color looks a bit cheap. I'd instead have the train have some lighting parts attached to it (this would fit great with the addition of rgb options for circuit lamps)

Special interrupt on a new planet - I bet it's a global cyclical catastrophic event, like a meteor shower, and you need to retreat to safe zone (force field generators?)

I find it funny that my favorite FF posts about the big update are the ones featuring Quality of Life changes or “small” things like this. I find it funny.

So excited for the long-needed train updates! It will be challenging (but possible) to use interrupts on super long ribbon maps, where it can take 20 minutes (real time) to go from end to end. You don't want your train suddenly deciding to go to the opposite side of the map.

Finally, I can do sorting by the train load, Just dump ore in the Train make A Station for each Ore and put interrupts for each ore type and station and just unload with Filtered Stack inserters. Could have done it before, but not that efficiently.

I'll probably still use LTN assuming it updates since I'm used to it and I like the whole provider/requestor system. Interupts can't really fully replicate what LTN does, they can handle generic trains but they don't seem to be easly be able to handle stations with multiple inputs.

definitely looking forward to these upgrades, I'm just now finally starting to build my first city block base in my space exploration playthrough so not already having these is already annoying. lol

Do you use a depot system? I find that is the only way to achieve a fairly decent schedule (in vanilla )but it is certainly sub optimal

@@mikeydflyingtoaster I can't imagine doing it without depots. I have like 150 1-3 trains and most of them sit in stations till another opens up. Even then I need like 5+ depots around the map just to save on travel time for the refuel trip. I haven't thought about it until now but it might be possible to string an interrupt together using circuit logic but at that point I'd be putting together my own LTN.

My first thought for the interrupt in interrupt on a future planet was tides which would separate segments of the base.

We have mods that paint trains so we have this feature, so no need to live without it, You actually need a few like train painter, fluid wagon painter, and another that will stop a train if you hijack it or set a temp stop up so your ride doesn't just run away, god I hate when my taxi taxes off.

I think one of the best ways to use the trains that will be doing “anything” would be to use it for more expensive items that require a train to move them around less frequently whereas for more common items you can just use dedicated trains to make sure there is a solid minimum amount of supply.

I'm going to guess that the reason for the interrupt in interrupt planet would be something like a planet very close to the sun so it would be dangerous for non shielded items to be outside during the day. Perhaps even a special heat resistant rail so it doesn't melt but the trains cant be made of it or something similar. Maybe the trains would be fine if they were empty but the cargo might explode if its outside... wild mass guessing here.

I like your thinking here. But I don't think that specific example will be the case. In a decent FFF post where they revealed the first new planet Vulcanos, they said that it is the hottest and closest to the sun. Since they mentioned here the interrupt in interrupt is on a planet they haven't shown yet, it can't be Vulcanos

I forgot about that one... it could also be the other extreme of super cold at night and freezing the trains in place making them vulnerable to local wildlife. @@Xterminator

hmm I don't like that the color of the whole train changes. I think it would be better if there is an optional signal light on the train, which color can be changed.

I wouldn't say LTN is completely obsolete, at least in niche cases. I'm doing a play-through with the Freight Forwarding mod pack and I'm running a sushi bus based design, where I circulate containers of materials on the main bus. To go between bases, I have transload stations which transfer specific sets of containers, based on what is being demanded. I had a circuit-based design, but it was a bit brittle and LTN was just a bit more flexible. However, for a traditional unit train design, interrupt based delivery certain feels like it will simplify scheduling.

Nested Interrupts: train health below 50% Definitely going to see some planets wth super hostile weather conditions, or cargo that damages the low-tier trains over time. i.e transporting lava erodes your train.

No. That still has tons of logic stuff on top of vanilla. The better comparison would be Train Management System, which is more simply push / pull and depot based. Also has automatic train refueling. Plus there are some other more lightweight mods that have things like refueling or skip conditions.
