I have been watching you build this car for what seems like years so it’s exciting to see you this close. It looks awesome

Jim, I have gotten outer and inner window felt weather stripping with stainless (or black) moulding from Steele Rubber or Collectors Auto Supply.

Jim, do you remember what grit sandpaper the guy used to grind down the windshield? Was it a particular type of sandpaper? My windshield cracked and I need to replace it. This time I want the replacement windshield to fit better so I will need to sand it like you did.

I believe it was 80 grit. I cannot stress enough of keeping the water on it for cooling. And keeping the angle of the grinder within 5 degrees. Just a few seconds of no water and it will chip a chunk off the side. Just take it slow.

Pretty awesome to be able find someone who knows about this!

In your quest for someone to make the stainless pieces have you reached out to any ambulance/ fire truck manufacturers if there are any close to you? I have used them before as a resource for cutting and bending diamond plate and stainless.

Thanks for the tip. I will look into it.

Not sure what happened to my previous comment, so I'll ask again. Could this have been adresses during the bodywork phase via the window opening itself? My glass fits OK, but I expect there to be some massaging of the opening to get it to fit perfectly. Was there something that prevented you from doing that?
@StreetRodJim Жыл бұрын
Sure. I guess I missed the boat on that one or just assumed it would fit like any other car does (past experience). It is not like the windshield is taken from another car/make for this application. But, not everything fit out of the box either. In the grand stream of things it was a lot to manage spread out over years... (I'll just keep making excuses LOL)

No windshield wipers? I know we both live in Arizona (me in Surprise) and rain is not on the top 10 list of things that happen but....

Show car. Not interested in driving it in rain.

@@StreetRodJim No offense and I agree it looks better, just don't know the licensing rules here in AZ. Built all of my street rods in California and they were required.

@@robertwelch5584 Yes, true in AZ. You just have a squeegee in the car. Its considered a "Manual Wiper" and you pass all laws.
