First off, I really enjoy your videos. Your very thorough, low key, and thoughtful. I just watched the interview with your friend “Eddie”? Next time you see him, he nailed it…. Beautiful job, love the 289 body style. Lastly, these projects are great, but having someone to share it with is priceless. I would love to hear a passenger report from your better half, or anyone else that has spent some time riding “shotgun”. That little romp at 3:48 in the video even had me reaching for my hat. Well done.

Great car but holding on to the shifter all the time wears out the shifter forks by dampening out the natural vibration. In time it will start popping out of gear. Great car

Thank you, driving a Cobra is a unique experience. Best way I can describe it is a raw sock you in the gut feeling, no ABS, traction control, etc... a throwback to 1965 and what Carol Shelby created. Definitely hard to ever get tired of the side pipe tone and 500+ HP engine in your ear and the power available on your right foot. If you are in the Sacramento area I would take you out for a drive anytime.

Travis, great job on your build. I was really impressed with some of the pieces that I have not seen on other Cobras such as the black front nose cowl insert, the rearview mirror mounted to the windshield and the head rest. I may use your body and paint guy if I don't find the right guy in So Cal. One question, if you were selecting engines again, which one would you go with knowing what you have learned.
@Travis81263 жыл бұрын
Bob, I built this car for a fun weekend cruise around fun car. Take it to some shows, cars and coffees, 2-3 hour drives with other Cobra owners and wanted it badged with the 427. I am a pushrod guy, old school grunt, sound and feel. You just cant beat the sound of them! No regrets up to this point going with a 427 so far it has been running good (knock on wood). Really like having EFI set up. Do you need 520 HP? No, not at all...347 would probably be plenty of go juice in a 2400 lb car. If I was going to build a car to heavily track, drive across the country and beat the crap out of I would have gone with a Coyote they are great engines and extremely reliable. Just don't care how they look in the car, sound and idle...look like they belong in a Mustang GT to me... did not fit my build vision in this car. That is totally my opinion, everyone does there own thing on what engine works for them. Lots of different options out there. Ken pike is great, you won't go wrong with him. Good luck on your build!

Sharif, I picked them up from Amazon they are basic stainless marine cup holders. They do require a small O-ring to lift them up to clear the TKO600 trans (in location I mounted them). If you visit build thread here is the page on my O-rings: thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?35778-Fmans-Dart-427-build-9818-Nor-Cal-1k-mile-build-review/page7

Nice! I've got a holley 750 double pumper carb set up. Thinking of converting to EFI. DO you know if there will be any kind of power or torque loss??
@Travis81263 жыл бұрын
I would think you would gain with EFI rather than loose but I can't confirm that. Maybe someone else here would be able to help you on that question. I know with EFI I turn the key and it fires right up, no exhaust fumes to smell and fuel economy seems pretty decent for a 520 HP engine.
