I think the biggest problem and my biggest gripe with the audiophile/home theater community is the snobbery and self righteousness. I enjoy channels like youthman, techno dad, joe and tell, fomo and even the audiophiliac because of their honest from the heart opinions. I also love audioholics for calling out the snake oils of the industry when it’s backed by scientific fact. Mostly where my issues come from is the forums on redddit etc... while there’s lots of cool people in these communities, I have had people call me a flat out liar. I’ve admitted my mistakes or misunderstandings of course befor... but there’s few times I’ve literally posted my respectable sources to back my statements and after being called whatever, they never even acknowledge they were wrong. I think this community could do a great service to itself to instead of calling someone basically an idiot, guide them in the right direction... or listen and respond respectfully to an opinion that might conflict with their own.

@@Paranimal86 I think there are a lot of people with engineering/science backgrounds in this hobby. They tend to like measurements and precision, especially with their data. It's always risky posting an opinion in this environment. Just stop caring what they say or think. At the end of the day, your system has to please only you, and thats all that matters.

I have had JTR Speakers for years. In fact my entire 7.1.4 system is JTR, but until this video, I knew very little about how they were made or the size of the company. I am really glad you made this trip and that Jeff was so open about giving us insight into his business. Like you said in one of the comments above, it is obvious that Jeff uses the best possible components and by being an internet direct company is able to offer the speakers with very little markup which creates a tremendous value.

@@Youthman They are doing great!! Tony and I calibrated them a few weeks ago and with the My dual PSA T-18's is it a blast (no pun intended haha). We had them all firing within 1ms of each other and I could not tell which one of the 4 was firing, which is exactly what you want. I watch most movies now at -10 or -5 and leave ref for a few movies when I am watching with a friend or solo. My theater is 25x18x11 (5000 cu ft) and when we put the gas on, it can not be measure by a meter that only goes up to 130db(UMIK bottoms out) . I told Scott Newby I might actually be able to hit 140db in my size room, but will probably never try. Beyond just the power, having quad subs, gives me the surround feel now with explosions, which is what I was looking for. The PSA T-18s are awesome, but have quads(16K watts total) are in a different realm. The RS2s dig a alot deeper then the T-18's under 20hz and never break a sweat. With REW, we have the line almost flat from 20-100hz within 1db +/- either way and then added a house curve for movies. I have the Mini DSP HD set up for 2 configurations. First is a near flat response for Music and the second with the house curve for movies. It works out well. You will have to stop by if and when you are ever in Wisconsin again :)

I had no idea the mid/high-frequency driver itself in the "R" series speakers cost $900 EACH. That's insane, but it shows the true quality that goes into these speakers. Those drivers are made in Germany, to 0.02% tolerances... pretty amazing. That is truly ultra-high end. The cross overs shown are massive, and probably similarly expensive. Those are just 2 of the components that goes into each speaker, not including the expensive Baltic Birch, high-end wiring, high end insulation, high-end binding posts, etc. There are no holds barred here. Even if you were to try to manufacture something similar to these yourself at home (which would likely turn out poorly), using the same raw components, it would still be a very expensive endeavor! Hats off to JTR.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone say, "10 Hert content." :) Great tour!

at 11.43 in video the 212Pro screen text says ".. with dual 18" drivers" .. but should be dual 12" drivers. Interestingly the comment text for the JTR website link for these subs also has incorrect info
@Youthman4 жыл бұрын
Whoops...yes that looks like a typo. 212 would refer to dual 12's, not dual 18's.

Good video nice to see inside part get more confidence. JTR should try some smaller subs cab too instead of all mini fridge type what about amps to drive these monsters
@Youthman4 жыл бұрын
I don’t think I recall seeing any mini fridge. Most of them were full size units LOL
