Hi, this is really helpful for those looking for sustainable products. What are the elastic/stretchy materials that can you suggest to use for headbands, facemask or scrunchies? I have a supplier offering cotton spandex jersey. Would that be fine? thank you

Would you recommend 100% organic cotton or 95% tencel and 5% spandex? (Can't find many 100% tencel products). One is biodegradable, but the other one is easier on the environment, form what i know.
@factory45co4 жыл бұрын
Good question, Marcus. It really depends on the product and how much stretch you need -- there are a lot of factors (knit or woven? fabric weight? fit and use, etc.) If you can avoid synthetics like spandex, then definitely do it. But if the product fit is dependent on stretch then it's better to have a well-fitting product with some spandex in it than an ill-fitting one with none. Do you know what I mean? Happy to talk this through more if you have additional details!

What fabric would be the best in your opinion for activewear?
@factory45co4 жыл бұрын
Tencel is a great non-polyester alternative that works great for activewear!
@nawingurung4 жыл бұрын
Tencel with what for the stretchability? As far as I'm aware, elastane is still a synthetic that's really bad for the environment! God, May couldn't come early enough before you run another course!
@factory45co4 жыл бұрын
@@nawingurung You can find tencel fabrics with all different types of stretch, depending on how the fabric is made! So you could contact a supplier and say "I'm looking for a 95% tencel knit with less than 5% spandex so there is enough stretch for activewear - do you have anything that fits that description?"
@nawingurung4 жыл бұрын
@@factory45co found a fair amount of tencel fabrics but not the one with my stretch preference. I guess I should keep looking. Could I contact the fabric company directly for instance Lenzing or do I have to go through a fabric supplier?

This is great, is fabric made from bamboo eco friendly?
@factory45co5 жыл бұрын
It's a naturally recurring "weed" that doesn't require pesticides or insecticides to grow, so that's a pro. However, it goes through an intense chemical process to turn it into fiber. The most "eco-friendly" bamboo uses a closed looped process so that those same chemicals and water can be used over again, limiting waste.
