Chapstick is a brand of lip balm. Sometimes one brand of something is used as a generic name- like ‘Kleenex’ for ‘tissue’ or ‘Hoover’ for ‘vacuum’ (in the UK). I’m Canadian, I always say lip balm, vacuum and Kleenex. 🤷‍♀️ For the language nerds- when our lips are red and cracked, we say our lips are ‘chapped’. Thats where the name Chapstick comes from.

Chapstick is a brand of lip care. It’s very waxy and not glossy. It’s typically not tinted except as a soft pink. The OG was a flat ended product in a black and white tube. It was made for men and women to help with chapped lips so it was not makeup like. It had a medicinal scent.

Noi in europa chiamiamo "burro di cacao" quello che DOVREBBE essere proprio "burro di cacao", e cioè, quella sostanza estratta dalla fava del cacao che viene utilizzata in molteplici applicazioni e che NON dovrebbe invece entrare a far parte della composizione della cioccolata... Mentre a causa di alcune leggi scellerate, da un po di tempo il burro di cacao sta molto più nella cioccolata che nei rossetti. Anzi, nei rossetti ci mettono i derivati del petrolio (paraffina, cera). Viviamo in un mondo avariato. Grazie per i tuoi video.

Chapstick as a name-brand lip balm. It is not heavily colored like this. The product being made looks like lipstick, which in America means a product used to color the lips, not necessarily moisturize them. Two products, two different uses.

Chapstick and lip balm are interchangeable in the States. Tho I DO believe 'chapstick' is a brand name. I'm in the US and WE get confused. Don't assume that just because we speak the language doesn't mean we understand how it came to be.

I know its very confusing to make new names for things but theres a reason why and they have differences lipstick - coloring lips (kinda like using chalk on blackboard) Lip balm - moisturizing lips Lip tint - coloring lips, but you need to apply lots to get desired color (like watercolor)
