Another fact that will help people a whole lot when deciding on the sex of their future pet budgies: Young males have a pink cere that turns blue when they mature. Young females have a light blue cere that turns either pink, white or brown when mature. Now I hope you don't get confused with your budgies like I did! Though I still believe mine is transgender! XD

yes that was clearly a budgie.. :-) that brown budgie was with its fellow budgies in a cage, some are yellow, white, yellow-green, blue.. but I only bought 2 greens and 1 blue.. :-)

Lets see... You don't need to take them for walks, or maintain maintain temperature & humidity that is too high for human comfort, you should be able to supliment their pellets with produce and grains found in your kitchen, they take little space, do not destroy furniture or chew on cords, do not need to keep their habitats plugged in, can be touched without endangering yours or their life & health, minimal to no smell, do not require a license to own, they will happily bath themselves, won't escaped into the walls or destroy plants, do not require a shovel or scoop to clean up their poop, neither are they known for making their owners bleed, does not require daily brushing or dental care... Easy Peasy😃

I just got one a few weeks ago.he is noisy but I like the way he chirps,The noise doesn't bother me. I just love bird and I know how good it is to start off with a budgerigar then just to go to a big bird. I hope one day to get a bigger one but for now thunder (the name of the budgie) is amazing

I have a male and female parakeet and they personalities are reversed. He is a bully with her and even though he says a few words, she is the one who like new words. I guess she heard a BobWhite sining at some point because she started trying to mimic it. I whistled ♪Bob-White♫ and she reacted with such enthusiasm and excitement. He acts like a mean little boy and will grab her tail or entire wing in his beak and not let go. He will peck her and jump back. But she is the fighter when it comes down to it. she fights smarter and her smaller size, she's faster. She even learned to double her foot into a fist and punch him, hence the reason he jumps back.

Yeah, this was the first time having to make a video that conveyed large amounts of text information. Due to only making music videos beforehand, I was use to following the beat of a song to change images/text. That doesn't work for an informational video like this, where the large amount of text needs to be on screen for a good amount of time. Whoops :P I've learnt from this though, so it was worth making for that alone.

You can feed them lots of produce everyday. Its actually quite healthy. Also, your pet budgies diet should be mainly pellets as seeds are way too fattening and should only be used as treats.

Sounds like it's a Male. Male budgies start out with pinkish Ceres & then turns to a deep blue or purple when they reach maturity.

The diet part is wrong. There main diet consists of fruits and vegetable. Seeds are less than 10 percent of their diet. People feed seeds to them as a main diet cause they are cheaper and are easier to get

Dani_Animation I usually give my budgie a small piece of fruit or lettuce each day. It really depends on how quickly they eat through the food you give them. For instance my current budgie is very picky and won't really eat apple for some reason, but loves lettuce. Even so, the small piece of lettuce is never finished by the end of the day. Other budgies I've had would chomp through the whole piece of lettuce or fruit if given the chance. If your little budgie is a bit of a glutton, only give them one piece of fruit or vegetable a day, only replacing the next day for a fresh piece. I gave one of my budgies both lettuce and fruit once, which he ate through in the one day, and he ended up with sloppy ploppies :')
