The best shower head costs 6.00 it’s made of brass you can shut off the flow at the head and it will practically strip the skin from your flesh but uses less water. People waste tons on those crappy plastic hose rigs. They’re junk.

What will result from this policy is sort of obvious. Less options and higher prices. The few people I know that do own single family rental properties are selling them or already have. They're turning around and buying new ones in Ocala and other places. I also own rental properties in other places, I completely intended on renting my current house out in Gainesville and moving to a bit bigger place. However I will no longer be doing that either. I will sell the house back into the market and away from the renter pool. So .. Instead of the city going after some of the edge case slumlord situations directly with rules that were already on the books. Solving those particular situations and PROTECTING the amount of single family options for renters. We will leave young families and their kids to move into high rise buildings because they cant afford the few houses that will be left in the rental market. So who benefits? 2 parties. Condo developers- who have probably already overbuilt here and need people to fill up there buildings. Also large Real Estate companies- who will comply and gladly accept more money for rent on the few single family rental housing options that ARE actually left. Small landlord loses. Tenants lose the worst. They will be forced to take the shoe box in the sky apartment with a bunch of college kids paying as much in rent as they used to for a house. Gotta feel a little bad here for regular families who are currently renting or looking to rent. Rent in Gainesville was already too expensive prior to these policy adjustments.

great video - sounds like a lot of extra expenses to the property owner that will be passed onto the renters (higher rent) and to the city / county (higher taxes)... I was thinking of maybe purchasing some properties to rent out but I think you've turned me against that idea - too much red tape

Gainesville has always been intrusive into local business practices. Whether it be the size of a sign, what you can display on the sidewalk, and others, they will always make their demands. Gainesville is a college town. The local government makes all of its tax money from the university and they will always protect that. Just remember this if you plan to do any business here.

The University doesn’t pay any taxes. You seem confused it’s the other way around. Not to mention WE property owners pay the most in taxes.
