Fact: Hepburn was an EGOT winner. She got an Emmy, Golden Globe, Oscar and a Tony award ! She died almost a month after Christmas on January 20, 1993 and her funeral was held the 24 January in Switzerland. Jackie Kennedy died about a year later from a similar cancer.

@joanschilleci75642 жыл бұрын
@@JulieAnne17-dn Perhaps Audrey's metabolism was compromised when she was young and like so many other children in the Netherlands during WWII, she almost starved because of the Nazis. However, I have heard that "Jackie O" was a chain smoker and especially when she was First Lady would never let pictures of her smoking be published. Since "Old Man Joe Kennedy" her father in law practically totally controlled the press, she was protected. Many starlets and rich and famous "upper class" women use cigarettes to kill their appetites so that they can remain "fashionable thin". I have read that cigarette smoking and drinking are both strong factors in developing Pancreatic Cancer, so perhaps smoking contributed to dear Audrey's cancer. But her lover Robert Wolders was a man of integrity. He was married to Merle Oberon (Cathy in Wuthering Heights with Laurence Olivier)and he adored Audrey. He wanted to marry her but time ran out because she died.

She was a great actress, very lady-like and a kind woman. Her whole life she suffered a eating-disorder because during the war she and her family were forced to starve when the Germans occupied Belgium. She herself said that they hadn 't enough to eat. Later she got accustomed to that. When she was very young it wasn 't noticeable but later it was significant .She became utterly thin, almost like a skeleton. There was much gossip going around in Hollywood because of this. The camera operator who shot scenes during "War and Peace" said that he don't know how to do it because she was just skin and bones. She always claimed having no problems but that wasn 't true. A journalist visited her on the set in Rome and she told others that Miss Hepburn was cooking an amount of Spaghetti with tomatoe-sauce for the crew but she herself refused eating anything. Until she died she was very thin, perhaps this was the reason for her illness. I liked her very much though it was obvious for me that she had an eating disorder. In Hollywood it was usual eating nothing , taking care about weight , so nobody wasn 't doing anything. But her collegues noticed it but didn 't like talking about it.

You brought up some really great points. Just a few days ago maxi jazz passed away at the young age of 65, he too was very skinny his whole life. I think that when you are skinny, your fat reserves are low, and perhaps energy reserves, bio electricity and energy supply to your cells, in short your life force energy becomes depleted. Then when you have an illness such as she had with her lungs from smoking, your body has not the resources to fight back and death becomes a more likely outcome. Audrey Hepburn is one of the most beautifully pure embodiments of this universe.

Truly such a beautiful woman in person and in all her wonderful roles. I think my favourite role of hers was as Suzy in Wait Until Dark. In real life her best role was as a UNICEF ambassador.

Please read "Dutch Girl" - a well-written biography of Hepburn's childhood into adulthood. The horrors she experienced during World War II - unfathomable. That she survived was a miracle.

What a talented and beautiful actress she was, don’t know how many times I have watched Roman Holiday, My Fair Lady and Sabrina.

It seems Audrey was someone for others to fashion their lives around. She never lost sight of humanity as so many often do when finding fame and fortune. My favorite movie is Roman Holiday. My favorite scene in any of her movies is her rendition of Moon River in Breakfast at Tiffany's, which as I understand was almost cut from the movie by director Blake Edwards. Audrey fought to have the scene remain and it became iconic. Rest in peace dear Audrey, I am forever your fan.

She was a beautiful soul, both inside and out. My favorite movies of hers include: Breakfast at Tiffanies, Roman Holidays, The Nun's Story (she's AMAZING in this movie!), The Children's Hour, Sabrina and My Fair Lady. I love that she was an avid gardener as I am also and I own the box set of Gardens of the World with Audrey Hepburn. It's a must for anyone enchanted with her and of course, with gardens! There will never be another Audrey with her beauty, grace, charm and talent.
