All are unique. Fergie performed miracles with aberdeen, who haven't won a league title since. He revamped Man Utd, buit, and rebuilt countless teams, took upon new challengers and still stayed at the top. He underperformed in Europe but how many seasons did he actually have the best team? Jose, done the unthinkable with porto and Inter, won European trophy with United and Roma. Maybe underperformed in Europe with Chelsea and Real Madrid but his work with Porto and Jose keeps him in the Goat Debate. Carlo, won league titles in 5 different leagues, built a great AC Milan team who were mediocre for a decade before he came. Has the magic touch in the CL. He has had great squads, id say the only team he built was the Milan team, did okay at PSG. His work in Madrid, Milan and.winning in all leagues puts him in the Goat debate. Pep, only wants to win playing beautiful football. Hes the youngest, won 3 CL titles and is probably on his way to become the undisputed goat ( people will talk about how much hes spent and rhe.fact that hes.never had to do it as an underdog). Pep will definitely end with rhe.most trophies. Its all open to debate. You can't really say.one is better than the other as we can all give arguments for and against each one!

Even adjusting for inflation, the football market in Pep's era bears little resemblance to that of Ferguson. The rise in television revenues, merchandising, and all the other ways clubs make money these days is reflected in how much player transfers and wages run. Costs as well as income have far, FAR exceeded simple inflation since Fergie's time. For these comparisons, the funds should just be left out of the evaluation. It's apples to oranges. A more useful stat would be comparing the spend of each the top 4-5 clubs in the respective leagues during the manager's era. For example, many folks think Pep outspent everyone else by a country mile. That is incorrect. City ranks around #3. Chelsea and Man United have both spent more in the last 10 years than City.

zero ball knowledge lol. See the context of the game. Sir Alex literally had to re-build clubs like Aberdeen and United from the ground up. Of course his win percentage is going to take a hit. Another crucial factor is that Pep owes his entire legacy to the referees. Without the help of the refs, he would not win the 2009 UCL and 2011 UCL with Barcelona, and therefore, he'd be irrelevant today.

@@ericwilliams6905When Sir Alex took over, United were 11th in the league, had not won the PL or UCL in 25 years, pressure was mounting. He slowly but surely from 1996-1992 started selling those players that were not up to the fitness levels he demanded. And he worked with Eric Harrison and Sir Matt Busby to setup United’s global scouting network and youth academy. That’s how he rebuilt United in a clean and fair manner. And what are you waffling on about??? Pep inherited a City team that had just reached the UCL semi final for the first time in their history under Pellegrini. They came 4th in the league but it wasn’t some sort of calamity at City and the core players that Pep inherited were now seasoned winners having won the PL twice in 2012 and 2014 (Aguero Kompany Yaya Toure David Silva Zabaleta). The rebuild jobs that Sir Alex and Klopp had to do were far more difficult than that of Pep’s. And lastly, Pep literally overhauled his team and bought new players like Walker Stones Mendy Ederson etc. by breaking multiple FFP rules lol.

Actually I think what pep has done at big clubs does not need to prove himself at a small club. I mean it is not a guarantee that you'll be successful at big club, Lampard and Pirlo being good examples. Also, let's not forget even Mourinho never won the UCL with Real, Chelsea or Man united, even though no one would say he did not do a good job at those clubs. I'm actually not a city fan so I don't want to seem like I'm defending pep or anything, i'm a neutral on the matter.

Every manager in here is top class manager with no doubt. What made difference within or out of success, would vastly depend on clubs budget and underlying philosophy. Recounting this, I would safely say, would never vilipend or minimize manager capability. Not dealing much with type of game, they all deserve credit that they have earns through history though, while all this fluffs within them. There are also less mistake available and could perhaps tricks some to have sought great difference. But there availing aphorism which goes with this saying, "Doesn't matter how you play the game, its winning that counts"---I love all of them and their tactics, not to forget management styles. I believes "Mou", If could not be manager perhaps we would have seen him in very great role as greater activist or motivation speakers who can use available resources. Though "Guard" likes to thrives through standard and beautifulness. He would have been great designer as it he as been manufacture engineer somewhere, he like to clench to the pursuit of perfection . Fergie, more father role and leader, who perhaps can thrives in any productive company. So seamlessly, his curiosity prefer him to cling to even niche details at home so much so that to bring person on his apex of performance. Much over, oceans of opportunity would have uttered for "Carlo" intelligent, quick thinker and person who prefer to embark simple solution with not so lavishly resources. All in all, purging all these facts enshrines to all manager; I would fervently say, we are so luckily to have seen these greater manager at our history and perhaps they would stay much longer in history books.

Weight the criteria to evaluate them and come up with winners. It all depends on how much weight you assign to the statistics. I would weight winning percentage and trophies per year. Pep just won his 39th trophy and will likely get his 40th against Man U on Saturday. If so, he wins by a long shot. Some recognition has to be given though to team rebuilds too but not sure how to weight it. Money spent on players is irrelevant unless you can compare it to a league average and then come up with a ratio. Pep has spent a lot but according to him, he has been outspent by Man U first, Chelsea 2nd and Arsenal 3rd the past 5 years. (So he may be lower than league average) Regardless of how you slice it he will likely take it, but don't forget he worked with the best players on average.

Prime Barca, Prime Bayern and Prime City. Not denying that Pep is a genius, but qualitative analysis without taking into consideration the circumstances surrounding it is ridiculous. SAF built a dynasty that shall outlast even him (Liverpool fan), Mourinho has won the CL with Porto and Inter, with players closer to retirement 😳. Don Carlo has won 4 CL and has managed AND created legends of the game. Pep has brought a whole new level of competition and has certainly set ridiculous standards but considering that he got Prime time Barca, Bayern and City and still spent the most money, that's crazy. Pep certainly has a bit of an unfair advantage in that sense. IMO Mourinho is the greatest manager ever.

As he took over 2 top teams in the world (Messi Barca, and money-infused City) and made them dominant. if compared to someone like Jürgen Klopp for example, who took over mediocre mid-table teams (Dortmund & Liverpool) to turn them into worldclass - not sure who is actually "better". it's clearly between SAF and Pep, i'd just call them equal cuz pep has a higher win rate and more trophies for the years managing, but also had Saudi backing, a ridiculous amount of money and both big clubs he managed were already competing for leagues and with amazing squads, whereas SAF won the league with Aberdeen 3 times, ontop of the super cup. He also built Manchester United as they are now, from a really poor squad of drunks, considering this I'm willing to say he is most definitely equal to or better than pep, his managerial career had been harder for sure, and managing Aberdeen and other smaller clubs certainly worsened his overall win rate.

To be honest these are just stats and can be interpreted in so many ways, thus, they tell us nothing at all. Though Pep stats look better than the rest, it doesn’t tell us that he hasn’t coached any weaker team…Barcelona, Bayern, and City. He’s managed only top clubs with both quality and money to help him succeed. Also, within 16 yrs, if Pep has managed to spend $1.6B, then all things being equal by the time he gets to the years Sir Alex and Carlo at he’d have spent almost double, about $3B. One can then argue, he needs a lot of money to succeed thus it doesn’t necessarily indicate he’s a better manager than the others especially Sir Alex and Carlo. Several deductions can be made from these stats. Personally, just this deduction alone tells me Pep needs a lot of money to buy his type of players, to play his type of football to succeed. He’s not as adaptable as the others. Does that make him better than them, no.

All 4 of them are absolutely insane managers. There are 2 or 3 more who I consider to be great but those for are without a question insane. Ancelotti - mostly overlooked as a "goat" manager but his records across the years are truly remarkable. If he wins this years UCL it will be something never seen before and hard to replicate. Ferguson - for me what he did with Aberdeen was memorable. But in Manchester, he showed his true colors. Managed them for many years, made a very struggling and average team a winning machine. Throughout the generations he had to build and rebuild and always surrounded himself with average or good players and made some of them great. The only exception might be Cantona who was a superstar back then. Pep - Yes, he managed mostly top teams with mostly great players but you can't take away his input in today's football. His style of play is enjoyable to watch, very efficient and completely dominating. I am confident he would be able to replicate this in a mid-table team just like Alonso is doing with Leverkusen this year. Mourinho - What he did with Porto and Inter is mesmerizing. Not the most exciting style of play but very strict and direct in what he does. I hope he reinvents himself and puts yet another drama story to his name.

Your bias analysis of Mourinho shows you are a pep fun. Mourinho resurrects fallen giants unlike Pep. Pep is simply a smart coach and not a genius like people try to make us believe. Before Mourinho signed for Madrid, it hadn't won la Liga for six consecutive years, eighteen years without Copa DeRay and fourteen years without playing in the quarter final of the UCL. Non of his competitors managed clubs at such a low level. I could easily have continued with other clubs but I wouldn't because, Mourinho is the undisputable g.o.a.t!! Football is competitive sports and not an avenue for advertisement of styles and philosophies.
