Hey Amit, nice to see you again & congratulations for over 33k subscriber, I have a doubt, generally in framed structures, structure consultant tells us to provide a bar (say 8mm dia) after 4-5 brick courses of 110mm thick brick wall. As per my knowledge it is a safety measure against earthquake as it keeps the walls bound with columns and prevents sudden collapse, however someone told me it is to help vertical loading, I think my point is more valid as in framed structures, brick walls aren’t for load bearing. Secondly he said we need to apply binding chemical instead just mortar slurry (like proper rebaring) but when i am providing a bar of 50-60mm extra long than of clear span between columns and doing it by proper drilling a hole which eliminates the risk of bar getting out of columns, then is it necessary to perform proper rebaring, and if yes it is necessary then isn’t it will greatly effect the cost??

And give another thought about telegram channel, it will help engineer with day to day doubts.

Nowadays consultants recommend aluminium strips instead of reinforcement steel, practically it is found at several projects reinforcement steel gone vanished after 5-6 years due to environment conditions & there is no need of re bar in columns.

Factual Civil Engineering okay, but what is it’s function, is it for earthquake loads or for vertical loading, and I couldn’t find any video on internet with aluminium being used as reinforcement in brickwork, if u have one, can you share the link??

Plz can u explain u told that we can mix 20& 10mm aggregate combine to perform this test.on other hand in this test only material retained on 10mm is used for this teat.how is it possible
@FactualCivilEngineering5 жыл бұрын
I said if you are executing a building project than u can take samples from both lots 10mm & 20mm one by one & mix if the sources of materials are from same place. Particular size of aggregates is not mentioned in IS codes.
