Nice video I was out there a couple times before and I also found the store over priced for the most part and in not great condition but still a nice store to look around!

FaDa Vlogs cool. Cool! I do have videos on it too and am getting ready to do another Lionbot variant informational video in the next few days. But I think yours as an early transition Lionbot. The early 1981-83 Lionbots are distinct due to the white clips on the red wings, as they were actually spare Popy Golion parts. Bandai in early 1983 moved Chogokin production from Japan to Taiwan, for cheaper labor. Yaun Yi/Diecast Metal took over production making most of the Chogokin going to the US. That’s when they bootlegged Golion into Lionbot. Yours has grey wing clips I bet, meaning it was when they actually produced it in Taiwan instead of using up the shipped spare parts. The difference between yours and more common versions is age, the lead paint, and the chroming should be smooth. Newer Lionbots though near identical aren’t made and painted as nicely you could say. There are very pricy variants collectors go after and I show them in my videos. But yours is the beginning of the more common style. Of course since it being an actual 80s version, it’s easily worth $130-$175 or so depending on overall condition and the buyer’s knowledge.

I hate to say it, but I think he was pretty spot on with the valuation. Lionbot was itself a knock off of Golion (Voltron with a lot more parts). I got the same set when I was a kid (in the US). Also you said a part was missing, sometimes that matters, depending on the part, as does condition of the box (and toys). These guys max out at $300, if you're lucky (that's on ebay, so you have to pay their fee, and paypal's fee, both of which are assessed on the cost of the item PLUS shipping), so now you're down to what, $250? Curious to hear if you tried to sell it and if you had any luck, how you made out?

those actually do sell for under $200, the 84 classic voltron i have sells for a lil more, cant sell toys to a toy dealer, he has to make something too, sell it yourself and profit all the money...

you should of gone to rogue toys go see steve...he will be honest with its value and what you should expect to get on the secondary market. I would stay away from toy shack!! " making you turn off your cam" just because he wanted to insult you or take advantage of you ...way to go toy shack.

twitchster77 You lose respect for someone because they don't let you record something? Ya, that's normal.

And yes...I did lose respect for him in this specific case. It's clear he didn't want to be recorded low balling this dude and offering him a horrible price. Doesn't mean I lose respect for everyone who wont let people record things.

Japanese version is worth alot of more. You have a few companies that made Voltron from different countries. The one you have is from Taiwan which is not worth that much compared to the Japanese version.

Voltron|Golions is quite popular. Its a good choice you didn't give it for that much. Its a bit more valuable for it, like atleast twice what he's offering. If you gonna sell it to a toy collecting store, they just gonna obviously reselling it anyway. If I'm just gonna sell it. I rather sell it to a person who is trully love the toy and take good care of it. Because its a lost childhood toy. But it still depends on the demand. The best thing you can do is make sure it is the japan release, since if its the Taiwan release, it only has the value as the US Matchbox release. Don't worry, its quite easy to tell, if the black lion head's ears can be pull up, its the Japanese release. The Taiwan release can't pull the ears out. There are a lot of other comparison you can do really. If I were you, better keep it. It is something you can give to your grand-kids as a heirloom someday

Were you ever able to sell this? Or have you gotten a proper appraisal? I'm just curious as to how much it ended up being worth. That REALLY sucks that he gave you such a pathetic offer. How insulting! :(
@FaDaVlogs6 жыл бұрын
Actually I was only curious about what it was worth. Didn't really want to sell it unless he said he was going to pay a couple thousand. Then I would have taken the money and ran.😁

The Lionbot is a vintage knockoff. If it was genuine. It would have said Golion. In Japanese text.
