Aviation expert here. These interior panels are not critical to the safety of an aircraft. Not only do they get removed for cleaning, but with all the wear and tear from passengers, this is likely to happen at some point. This is more or less equivalent to a broken seat recliner. Though it does make one question the airline’s maintenance. (And no, it isn’t United due to the seats.) Also, this is actually an Airbus a320 due to the window shape and size.
