That drinking session made me laugh. I noticed in my travels, at some point as you approach the east, they start addressing you as “Mr”, followed by your first name. I was called “Mr John” in the Far East.

Love it ... haha drinking with the old USSR states :) The Pamirs is 200% more remote .. you gotta be seriously prepared for that ride. Get your bike back in good shape ... there's 1-2 convoys a day on the highway and "winter is coming" 😆 stay safe and enjoy the spud brew!
