Getting clean is like putting on a Space suit and walking away from the comfort of well comfort. No fear in the numb, also no progress, endless circles, madness but it becomes you inside and out. He picks up the needle, then moves to vials which I perceive as Methadone to need that crutch, but at the end he decides to take that scary leap into outerspace which seems so dark, scary, and hurtful, which it is, but it's life and space suit isn't going to protect him because it's not really space but just outside. Outside his room, outside the condensed opiate fueled mental world. When your on opiates it covers you in an invisible shield like a space suit void of feelings. Everyone has their root reasons for using and everyone has an excuse to keep using but man the gravity is soo crazy trying to climb out from the hole your in and I could go on forever but this video and song are deeper than people think and if your not an addict it probably seems simple or stupid.

Thank you for your post. I was wondering about the meaning and your explanation is so personal and profound. I wish you well in your recovery. Thanking God I never slipped into the opiod trap...seems so seductive and scary.

Racin' all around without a head to roll There's nothing keeping you from just floating away Everything you thought you knew that was true Has lost its connection and broken loose A wound that has opened that can never heal But you're floating on a channel that cancels the feel Of being untethered in an open void With nothing to grab you're just a broken toy But you're free now You don't need this You won't freak out You can't feel this When sleepin' is a dream that you want to be given But a waking sort of death is what you're actually livin' You're caught inside a space with no way to leave You're trapped inside a room with no air to breathe I'll run a week, I'll run a full hundred miles You cannot leave, you cannot demote yourself Your words flaring out Your words flaring out But you're free now You don't need this You won't freak out You can't feel this 'Cause you're free now You don't need this You won't freak out You can't feel this You did it right, you tried to forget it all You did it right when you said it was all your fault Don't change your mind, it's already over Can't change your mind when it's already gone But you're free now You don't need this You won't freak out You can't feel this 'Cause you're free now You don't need this You won't freak out You can't feel this
