It's cool seeing my wife and I in the video, enjoying the show. I also enjoyed Kellii giving me tinnitus that night. But that's what you get when you stand right in front of his kit for the whole night, and you forgot your earplugs. Totally worth it, though.

@@itookallthenames No. If you go to 2:51, you can see me wearing my GayC/DC shirt. Those dudes are a total blast. And if you move to about 4:20, you can see my wife in her wheelchair at the very right edge of the picture.

They are a fantastic, highly-underrated band. While many of their peers have stopped making new music or broken up, these three are creating some of the most vital music of their careers.

How many of y’all watched this Blu-ray of the entire show or even better went to a show and found yourselves in tears most the time? Not balling like a baby, although that’s ok if you did, it took a lot of restraint sometimes I admit lol, but man, these guys are incredible and so connected. Their timing together is amazing. This recording tells me that they’re getting better with age somehow. And if you think this KZbin copy sounds good, you should hear this on the Blu-ray totally uncompressed. It makes this look like shit.

I only discovered Failure as their career came to (what we first thought was) a close, just as I was settling into married life. Literally, I discovered the band through a traveling photographer that was taking family photos of my wife and I, along with her kids, in a small town west of Seattle. Years later, when I found out that they'd gotten back together at the request of Maynard James Keenan to play his 50th birthday party, I was almost giddy with excitement. When "The Heart Is A Monster" came out, I actually got a physical copy before it was supposed to go on sale, thanks to the local indie record-store owner getting the CD delivered a few days in advance of the advertised on-sale date. When my wife and I saw them live for the first time a few months later, I'm not gonna lie - I cried a little. When they came through Seattle a few years later for the "Fantastic Planet" anniversary tour, I was standing all of about three feet away from Ken the entire night, crying my fucking eyes out, because "Fantastic Planet" was and still is my single favorite album of the 90's. And my wife and I were at this show as well, basically standing in front of Kellii's drumkit. And I forgot my earplugs that night. The tinnitus sucks, but it was worth it.

@@BroadwayJoe99 Beautiful story. I hope they continue to go as long as possible. They’re right there with NIN as my favorite of all time but everyday I feel like NIN is a lot closer to finished if not already and by the sound of this Failure Blu-ray, they have ALOT left in the tank. One can argue WTD is the best album. At least not called FP. But I really don’t like trying to rank any of them over or less than another, because they’re all so good. The 3 new ones are legitimately great albums that stand on their own. They sound better than ever live. It’s just crazy.

I saw them I think either a year or 2 ago, and fuck man! I’ve been to A LOT of live shows, they easily had the best sound I’ve heard. I’ve seen my favorite bands play live and I’d still say Failure has them beat by a long shot with how close the live performance comes to sounding like the album!

Love this band, please keep making music, I love the classic old albums, but I love the new albums, especially The Heart Is A Monster. I placed my order for this Blu Ray, I actually ordered two, one for me, one for my brother. I remember back in December 2022 watching this online, ordered it through veeps and really enjoying the livestream. Many of us during the stream in chat, said please Failure put this out as an official release. Thank you Ken, Greg, and Kellii for playing an amazing set last year on the tour, and you guys sounded perfect. Your really amazing. Thank you for officially releasing this, you should be proud of it and it will stand the test of time. Your music is smart, honest, timeless, and it sounds amazing.

Seattle, because I can see myself throughout the video. From the camera angle that's behind Ken and looks out into the crowd, you can see me in my GayC/DC shirt just over Kellii's kick drum, and at 4:20 you can see my wife in her wheelchair brushing her hair out of her face while she was headbanging.

@philippgrunert877611 ай бұрын
Probably a stupid question but... What's those shields on the drums?
@BroadwayJoe9911 ай бұрын
Very, very precise blocking of noise from the cymbals. I'm a retired professional drummer and vocalist, and while a full-size plexiglass drum screen in front of the entire kit can reduce noise levels onstage, if not kept clean and free from damage - say, by just falling over mid-set - the screen can get scratched and pitted. Combine that with the lighting rig will reflect off the screen, the drummer can be completely obscured from the crowd. I know this because in my playing days on the Northern Nevada casino cabaret circuit, I'd play the show from behind a screen at a particular casino, and after the show people would see me exit the stage door on to the casino floor and presume I was a sound tech. I was usually the only white guy in the band, and more than once I heard someone say to me "Waitaminute - you're the drummer? We couldn't even see you back behind the kit."
@philippgrunert877611 ай бұрын
@@BroadwayJoe99 thank you! Makes sense keeping the directionality of microphones in mind. Really cool. I have seen such plexiglass cabinets before too.
@itookallthenames6 ай бұрын
@@BroadwayJoe99thanks dude, I was waiting for him to hit them
@BroadwayJoe996 ай бұрын
@@itookallthenames They've become fairly common over the last few years, as a cheaper and more adjustable alternative to a full drum screen. They're especially useful in smaller venues and settings like Neumo's, and when the show is being recorded for future release, to keep the higher frequencies of the cymbals from overpowering the overall mix, as well as protecting the hearing of the other people onstage. If you look at where the shields are positioned, you can see that they're placed directly in between the cymbals and Ken and Greg's stations.

Not a stupid question.. and a testament as to why their live show sounds as clean and powerful as it does.
