It's actually crazy how important this episode is for Weir's character

Cameron has quite an arc: destroying his father's car, first captain of the Enterprise B, and now a mental institution warden.

I have spent some time at a psychiatric hospital. This episode hit me hard in the feelings. I know how very well how Wier must have felt.

Anderson had a tough job (balancing O'Neill's typical personality with an oddly robotic behavior); he was brilliant.

Coincidentally, this episode was broadcast just 2.5 months after Doctor Who's The Idiot's Lantern, so probably neither got the missing face idea from the other.

Going through an experience such as this or SG-1's "The Gamekeeper" would result in me always thinking "What if I never left?"

Damn Jack. Donovan's Atlantis is a fine song.

I remember a similar episode in Buffy where she was infected and switching between a psych ward and Sunnydale.

Brilliant deduction your part this was a continuation from the previous episode. Yes, a "come back to bite us in the ass episode" Also you were right that it was good to see Jack again. Makes me wonder if we'll see him again. ( I know you probably already know the answer to that question, but I'll keep it to myself for those who haven't finished season 3.)

You should watch Jacob's Ladder. It was an inspiration for the Silent Hil franchise, but also for this episode and the one where Teal'C loses his symbiote

it's insane to realise just how few episodes are left of BOTH SG1 and Atlantis, and then there's only the movies and Universe and then nothing.

This is one of my least favorite episodes of Stargate. I’ve never really been a fan of this type of episode, where it makes a character question their sanity by having them slip in and out of hallucinations with the hallucinations being in a mental hospital. Though, Sheppard at least made this one more bearable than it is in other shows.

what i don't get is, delusions ACTUALLY FEEL real, for all intents and purposes.....so, WHY the hell, does everyone who is presented with this as a possible explanation for x-y-z, always says stupid things like, "no, it felt too real" or "i would know the difference". When faced with a person claiming that you had a delusional episode, the logical thing to do (provided that the claim comes from a proper authoritative individual), is to atleast CONSIDER the possibility that it might have been a delusional break. If you don't atleast consider such, YOU LOOK INSANE. But seriously......in general, DURING a dream, you don't question if it was a dream.....you only question AFTER you wake up, because the brain has access to all the experiences, and can replay all those experiences PICTURE PERFECT if it wants to, or exaggerate them, or down-play them......a delusion is no different, nor a DMT trip.....nor any kind of hallucination. If someone says that something that happened was a possible hallucination of some sort....DON"T talk about how real the experience was....who cares, that just makes you look arrogant, narcissistic, and self-righteous

1: There are those who can lucid dream. Usually, people have triggers. Breathing underwater, flying/hovering and telekinetic powers are mine. I know when they happen I am dreaming and can take control of what happens in the dream. 2: The whole point of these as plot lines is *faith* and strength of *Will,* not about delusion and reality and logic. They are about the power of not giving in using the delusion trope.

@@ChibiHoshiDragonyeah, so, you added nothing to what i said. I know why it is used, and i know what they are going for. It makes no sense to try to depict it this way....if a person really thinks about it. That is what i am saying. Yes, it feels real, that is how it should be expected to feel.......i think you are missing the point i was trying to make
